TRAINING TOGETHER | DINO MALVONE

April 28, 2026

This month we held our Athleisure Mag Summit Series where we invited a select group of our readers and community together to enjoy a class at SaltDrop in the East Village. It was a great way for them to be introduced to their Heated Sculpt 45 class, to meet the founder Dino Malvone who led us through our session, and they were gifted Sticky Be Socks as well as a 3-piece beauty skincare routine from Aeston West.

Avid readers know that last Winter, we included SaltDrop in our feature Athleisure List in our JAN ISSUE #109, and we wanted to find out more about Dino, how he came to the industry, why he wanted to create his own method, and more!

ATHLEISURE MAG: We had the pleasure of having you in Athleisure Mag last year to kick off the year in our feature Athleisure List and we took this class then which was my first introduction to you! How did you come to the world of fitness and what made you want to put your flag in the fitness industry?

DINO MALVONE: Fitness found me before I was looking for it and honestly that’s the only way I think it actually sticks. I wasn’t chasing a career or a brand. I was a person who kept coming back to movement because it was the only thing that made me feel like myself when everything else felt like noise. And then at some point I realized I was spending all this time in spaces that didn’t fully see me or the people around me and I thought someone should do something about that. So I did. I don’t think I chose fitness as much as I just stopped pretending I wasn’t already in it.

AM: What led to you wanting to create SaltDrop?

DM: My time with Barre3 was genuinely formative. I learned so much there, about how to lead a room, how to lead a team, and what it means to build something that people actually want to come back to. I have real gratitude for that chapter.

But at some point I started feeling the edges of the formula and I wanted to reach beyond them. I wanted to add jumping sequences, choreography that had a little more life to it, more effervescence. Things that didn’t fit inside what Barre3 was built to be and honestly shouldn’t have. That wasn’t the right container for those ideas. So I made a decision that I think a lot of people think about, but not everyone actually does. I decided to put my energy into building my own dream instead of continuing to build someone else’s. SaltDrop was what happened when I finally took that seriously.

AM: I love how you call out and encourage modifications. Why is it important to you to have this as part of your philosophy when you’re leading a class?

DM: Because the fitness industry has a savior complex and I’m not interested in participating in it. The idea that an instructor pushing you past your limits is somehow doing you a favor is something I actively reject. Your body is not a project that I get credit for fixing. When I offer a modification I’m not being easy on you. I’m being honest with you. I’m saying I trust you to know yourself and I’m not going to perform toughness at your expense. That’s a different kind of rigor and I think people feel the difference immediately.

AM: How would you describe SaltDrop as a fitness concept?

DM: It’s the antidote to fitness culture. Which I know sounds like something everyone says, but I actually mean it structurally. We are not optimizing you. We are not tracking your output or gamifying your progress or making you feel like you need to earn your place in the room. We’re just creating conditions for you to actually connect to your body and to the people around you. That’s it. And it turns out that’s pretty rare which says a lot about where the industry is right now.

AM: For those who have not taken your classes in person or virtually, what kinds of classes do you offer?

DM: We have three formats right now. Signature is our OG, the one that started everything and still hits the way it always has. Then we have Sculpt and Sculpt Heated, both are no cardio, and the difference is exactly what it sounds like because Sculpt Heated is at 90 degrees and that room does something to you. We are also currently building out a Flow class and a Strength class which I’m excited about because they expand what SaltDrop can be for people depending on what they need on any given day. And all of it is being developed inside something much bigger because we are in the middle of a major rebrand right now. So everything coming is being built with a lot of intention and a very clear vision of where this is all going. It’s a good time to be paying attention.

AM: How do you go about deciding the kinds of classes you will offer and do you foresee adding something new to the lineup?

DM: I don’t really look at what’s trending, because by the time something is trending it’s already starting to die. I look at what’s missing. What conversation is nobody having yet in this space. What does the person who feels unseen by the wellness industry actually need right now. That’s where I want to be. And yes there is always something new taking shape. I’m not someone who gets comfortable easily and SaltDrop reflects that. We grow when I grow and I’m always growing so.

AM: For those that may not have gone as far in their fitness journey as they wanted, what is something you would say to encourage them to get on the mat?

DM: I’d say stop treating your body like it owes you a different version of itself before you’ll be kind to it. That negotiation you’re having with yourself, the one where you’ll start when you lose the weight or have more time or feel more motivated, that’s not a plan. That’s a way of staying stuck that feels responsible. The mat is not waiting for you to deserve it. It’s just waiting for you. Show up as you are and let the rest figure itself out, because it will.

AM: What do you want people to walk away feeling after taking one of your classes?

DM: Like they remembered something about themselves they had been forgetting. That’s the only way I know how to put it. Not accomplished, not exhausted, not like they checked a box. Like something that had gone a little quiet in them got loud again for a minute. That’s what movement does when it’s done right, and that’s what I’m always chasing in a room.

AM: What can you tell us about the SaltDrop community?

DM: They ruin you for other fitness communities honestly. Once you’ve been around people who actually show up for each other and I mean in real life not just in the comments, you can’t really go back to the transactional version of this. I’ve watched people meet at SaltDrop and become each other’s emergency contacts. I’ve watched people move through genuinely hard seasons of their lives and have this community hold them. That doesn’t come from a good class. That comes from something much harder to manufacture and much more worth protecting.

AM: Recently, you were part of a multi-day event at Canyon Ranch Lennox. What can you tell us about this?

DM: Canyon Ranch Lenox is one of those places that makes you realize how loud your regular life actually is. There’s a stillness there that isn’t forced. It just exists and you settle into it pretty quickly. Being invited to teach in that environment was meaningful to me on a personal level, because the people who come to Canyon Ranch are not there to be seen. They’re there to actually do the work. That kind of room brings out something different in me as a teacher and honestly as a person. I left feeling clearer than I had in a while.

AM: Thankfully, we’re in the Spring and looking forward to Summer. Are there any upcoming projects or things that SaltDrop will be doing that we should know about?

DM: I’m in a very creative season right now personally and professionally and SaltDrop is going to reflect that. There are collaborations coming that I think will surprise people in the best way, and the podcast is taking shape in a way that feels really right. I’m not going to give everything away because I think the element of surprise is underrated. But I’ll say this, if you’ve been paying attention to what SaltDrop is building toward, what comes next is going to make sense in a very satisfying way.

AM: You’re coming up on your 4th year with your studio! What are 3 lessons that you have learned?

DM: One, the community is the whole thing. Not a feature, not a selling point, the actual thing. If you get that right the rest follows. Two, sustainability is not a compromise. I used to think that slowing down or resting was somehow at odds with ambition, and I was wrong about that in a way that cost me. You cannot build something lasting from a place of depletion, full stop. Three, your taste is your business model. Stop trying to appeal to everyone. The more specific and true you are to your actual vision the more powerfully the right people find you. The diluted version of your idea helps nobody.

AM: You launched a podcast, I Hear You Babe. Tell me about it and why you wanted to start it?

DM: It started because I kept having the same conversations over and over with people in my classes. About relationships, about their jobs, about this feeling of living someone else’s life instead of their own. And at some point I thought, what if we just put that in a room together. The format is simple and I think that’s why it works. Every week I give listeners a prompt, something specific enough to actually unlock a real story. Things like tell me the moment you realized you’d been chasing someone else’s version of success. Or tell me about the comment that was small but stayed with you. And people send me emails. Long ones, short ones, funny ones, devastating ones. I read them on air and I respond in real time, not from a script, just the way you would if a friend was telling you something that mattered. And I always go first. I talk about what’s actually going on with me that week, building SaltDrop, navigating New York, whatever is real. Because I think you have to earn the vulnerability before you ask for it from anyone else. That feels important to me. The audience is mostly women, the girliepops as I call them, and they are incredibly engaged. They write back. They send photos. They say hi to my cats. It has genuinely become its own community and I think that’s because the show doesn’t try to fix anything. It just tries to make people feel less alone in whatever they’re going through. That’s the whole job.

AM: You also have a project called I Fear You Babe. Tell us about that.

DM: Most true crime makes the victim the opening act. You get thirty seconds of who they were and then it’s all killer, all investigation, all spectacle. And I sat with that for a long time before I understood why it bothered me so much. If you don’t know who Linda Dewey was, not her case, her Tuesday mornings, her job, the way she probably moved through the world, then the justice part is just plot. It’s entertainment dressed up as something important. I Fear You Babe is built around the opposite idea entirely.

We spend real time with who these people were before everything happened. Because I genuinely believe that is the only way any of it matters.

We do two episodes a week. Thursdays are the deep dives, the full portrait, the story behind the story. Mondays are specifically about what broke that week in active cases, not recaps, not whatever went viral, but things that actually moved. Because the news cycle does not wait and neither do the people still waiting for answers. I built this show because I was tired of true crime that forgets the whole point.

AM: When you are not working on your business or prepping for your podcast, how do you take time for yourself?

DM: I protect my mornings like they are sacred because they are. That quiet before everything starts is the most honest part of my day and I will not negotiate on it. Outside of that, it’s long dinners with people who actually make me laugh, music that I’m a little too emotionally invested in, and coming home to Rocco and Vito who have never once been impressed by anything I’ve accomplished and I genuinely think that’s good for me.

ATHLEISURE LIST | NEW YORK PILATES

April 22, 2026

New York Pilates opened in 2013, at a time when Pilates was basically locked behind private sessions. With locations in various neighborhoods in NYC as well as in a number locations in the Hamptons, it is a destination that many people talk about when they are hitting the studio!

Former ballerina and Celebrity Pilates Instructor Heather Andersen created a class-based format that made it easier to book, easier to show up, and easier to stick with, while still staying completely true to the method. It made Pilates feel more athletic, more part of your lifestyle, without losing what makes it work.

Her husband Brion Isaacs comes from the nightlife scene and designed the studios to be spaces people want to be! They are open, airy, clean, and honest, each one reflecting the raw, individual nature of their history and neighborhood. Always timeless and never trendy - like New York. Each location has its own personality. You might find yourself in Bob Dylan’s old rehearsal studio at their West Village location or in a loftlike apartment setting at their Bowery location. Montauk is so beachy and relaxed with it’s water views, while Bridgehampton is elevated and chic. What ties them all together is their signature pink lighting.

When attending a session, NYP uses traditional Pilates reformers. They give you range, control, and so much room to actually move with intention. It’s giving you resistance and support at the same time, so you can make something feel insanely hard without ever losing precision. And that precision is where the results actually come from.

For those taking their first class, start with your breath. That’s the foundation of Pilates and what keeps you connected to everything you’re doing. Stay with the baseline version of each exercise. Don’t rush to level up. It’s not about doing the hardest option, it’s about doing it right. Understanding the movement and dialing in your alignment is what actually changes your body.

And don’t worry about being perfect. No one is. The goal is to feel the work, not just get through it. It clicks over time, and when it does, it’s kind of addictive.

We offer one signature total body class, Abs Arms Ass, and it’s very intentional. Pilates was always meant to be a full-body system, not split up like a gym workout. It’s one body, one flow.

They have some big Hamptons events planned that feel more like full experiences than just classes. They’re fun, social, and a little elevated.

In the city, they keep things smaller, more spontaneous pop-ups, little moments, things you have to be in the mix to know about.

ATHLEISURE LIST | CARLISLE BAY

April 21, 2026

We sat down with Spa Manager Michelle Plummer to talk about Carlisle Bay which opened in 2004 and is located on Antigua, specifically situated on the idyllic southern coast of the island. The Caribbean island is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand beaches, and lush tropical surroundings.

The resort features 87 ocean facing suites, each with a private balcony or terrace and many leading directly onto the beach, ensuring guests have convenient access to Antigua’s shores. Suites are divided into six categories. The Garden Suites are ideal for couples or small families seeking a tranquil option surrounded by tropical gardens. These offer partial ocean views and accommodate up to 3 people. Ocean Suites are best suited for couples or guests who prioritize scenic views. These are positioned on a quieter area of the beach and feature full, uninterrupted ocean views. The Beach Suites are available as Beach Balcony or Beach Terrace Suites. Both layouts feature two bedrooms and sleep up to 4 guests. Balcony Suites offer elevated views, while Terrace Suites provide direct beach access and outdoor lounging and dining space. The Bay Suites are our Adults Only option featuring oceanfront privacy with butler service, a private bar, and a secluded location near the jetty. Lastly, the Carlisle Suites are our largest accommodations. These 3-bedroom villas include spacious living and dining areas and accommodate up to 6 guests. Some are suited with kitchens, as well.

There are a range of amenities for relaxation, activity, and entertainment. Dining is available across 4 restaurants and 3 bars, ranging from a diverse array of cuisine types. The resort boasts a private white-sand beach with calm waters and non-motorized water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, and snorkeling. There is a large free-form swimming pool, with both family-friendly and adult-only areas. For wellness, the CARA Organic Spa provides treatments, massages, and beauty services, alongside a modern gym and a yoga and Pilates pavilion with regular classes. Sports facilities include tennis and Pickleball courts, a water sports center, and guided activities like nature walks and fitness sessions. Additional features include an intimate private cinema showing kid-friendly films and classics with popcorn and cocktails, a library room with stocked bookshelves, and lounge areas for relaxation, a kids’ club for younger guests, boutique shopping, and event and wedding planning services for special occasions.

Carlisle Bay is location in Saint Mary Parish which is one of 6 parishes on Antigua, located on the island’s southwestern coast. It is quieter and more rural than other areas. The parish features scenic beaches with calm waters and white sand, inland hiking trails and lush rainforest areas, making it one of the greenest regions of the island.

ATHLEISURE LIST | PRIVÉ PADEL

February 13, 2026

Former professional tennis player and Wall Street banker, Nicholas Solarewicz and entrepreneur, Chris Moore joined forces to launch Privé Padel. Their vision is to push the sport of padel forward, which is one of the fastest growing sports and their first phase is opening up this club.

Padel’s roots can be traced to Latin America in the 70’s. It gained momentum in Argentina and Spain where padel is the second most popular sport by participation behind football, and is now all across Europe. Padel is more similar to tennis and squash as it mixes elements of both. It is a doubles game sharing the same scoring as tennis with the addition of glass walls surrounding the court. Padel shares much of the culture of tennis, but is quicker to learn, softer on the body, and more of a social experience.

With an initial target of players in NYC and Miami - as well as to bring padel to the most beautiful travel destinations and hospitality, the Hamptons was the ideal setting for their first concept at a luxury resort. Privé was the first padel club to build and independently operate as an amenity of a luxury resort in the U.S. Guests can expect a stunning backdrop and high-touch experience.

They offer 2 tiers. Gold is perfect for the player who hits the court a few times a week, offering 50% off court bookings and a set of guest passes each month. Platinum is designed for the true padel enthusiast. While it comes at a premium, it includes unlimited complimentary play, so if you’re serious about your game, there’s real value there.

This year marks the 3rd season and in addition to their Montauk location, you’ll see Privé Padel at some exceptional resorts around the globe. Pop-ups, tournaments, brand collaborations, and members-only events are in the works for this year.

It’s worth noting that if you are a beginner, padel is about having fun, not perfection, especially if you are playing with those that are at your level.

If you are someone who has played a racquet sport consistently, it’s a seamless transition into padel in terms of getting on the court and having a great experience! Be mindful that having that know how is great especially if you are playing someone who may be a non-racquet sport player; however, padel is much less about physical power and proweress and more about finesse and touch.

ATHLEISURE LIST | CARMEL RETREATS

January 17, 2026

Carmel Retreats opened its doors in 2020, after owner, Barry Shimo Farb navigated his own journey with cancer and realized how deeply restorative it was to spend time on this property. Guests told him, “I didn’t know how exhausted I was until I exhaled here,” and he felt that during his own recovery. He wanted to create a place designed around that moment — where the surroundings are healing.

Carmel-by-the-Sea is one of those rare places where nature and creativity comes together. This village sits beneath a veil of Monterey pines and ocean fog, and there’s a calm that you feel within minutes of arriving. The air smells of sea salt, woodsmoke, and blooming jasmine. Artists, writers, and wanderers have come there for a century to find clarity and inspiration - and that spirit is still alive.

Many people are living at a pace that our bodies are not designed to sustain. Recharging is not just an indulgence, but it’s maintenance. Barry believes that when we step out of our loops and into a quieter environment, our minds reorganize, our creativity resurfaces, and our emotional bandwidth expands. He believes that rested people make better decisions, show up more fully for the people they love, and feel more at home in their own lives.

There are 2 historic cottages: Cuddle Doon and Wee Hoos are private sanctuaries. They’re filled with soft natural textures, warm lighting, and handcrafted details that encourage you to slow down. You’ll find a fireplace, spa-inspired bathrooms, deep reading chairs, and quiet corners for journaling, meditation, or simply listening to the ocean in the distance.

Guests receive a curated wellness welcome basket, a personalized retreat guide, locally roasted coffee, organic teas, aromatherapy blends, yoga mats, and a weekly ritual schedule designed to help guests unwind the minute they arrive.

Retreats can be tailored to your own rhythms. Guests can enjoy guided meditation, breathwork, yin yoga, forest bathing walks through the pines, sound healing, journaling prompts, cold-plunge moments at the beach, and evening reflection rituals by the fireplace.

For couples or small groups, they also offer intention-setting ceremonies, relationship-centered practices, and creative expression sessions like photography walks or intuitive sketching. Everything is designed to meet you exactly where you are.

We like an initiative that they have known as Postcards for Healing. Anyone can nominate someone in their life who is coming through illness, grief, or major life transition to receive a free 2–3 night stay at Carmel Retreats. They use the “trapped dates” between bookings — nights that would otherwise sit empty — and turn them into an offering of rest, dignity, and care. It’s a way of letting the property give back to people who need a soft place to land.

ATHLEISURE LIST | TAQUERIA CONDESA

December 16, 2025

Taquería Condesa opened late summer 2025. The name “Condesa” pays homage to La Condesa, one of Mexico City’s most creative, design-forward neighborhoods, known for its Art Deco architecture, and vibrant culture.

When guests walk in, they experience an ambiance that feels fun and welcoming. Taquería Condesa is chic and stylish, but it maintains the warmth and soul of a true taquería. We like to say it’s “sexy, welcoming, and full of sabor.”

The flavors and ingredients of Mexico City, draw heavily from recipes that owner Leonel Baizan grew up with in his family’s kitchen. Handmade nixtamal tortillas, slow-cooked meats, bright housemade salsas, and chiles imported from Mexico - are just some of the components that define the menu. Along with Mexican flavors, Taquería Condesa brings the spirit of community and creativity that defines La Condesa CDMX.

They offer an assortment of appetizers, a section devoted to quesadillas, nachos, and burritos, and sides like rice and beans, but tacos are the heart of this menu. They offer 11 different varieties available in orders of two or three. The drink list features craft cocktails, Mexican beer and sodas, Aguas Frescas, and housemade margaritas, served frozen or on the rocks, with flavor options like mango, strawberry, or passion fruit. Their dessert section features churros.

We enjoy a good taco and with a number of delicious options, we suggest that you try - Birria: slow-cooked brisket with Oaxaca cheese, onions, cilantro, and consommé, Pescado: panko-crusted cod with red and green cabbage and jalapeño mayo, and Hongos: a satisfying vegan option made with mushrooms, beans, onions, and cilantro.

To enhance your taco experience, add generous helpings of Taquería Condesa’s house-made salsas (salsa verde, chile de árbol, and smoky) to absolutely everything. It’s also recommended that diners should try: Guacamole & Chips; Elote Asado (corn on the cob with chipotle mayo, queso fresco, Tajín, and lime); and Flautas Doradas (fried corn tortillas stuffed with a choice of filling and topped with crema, guac, pico, and queso fresco).

Pair your meal with a non-alcoholic treat, the aguas frescas – Tamarind, Horchata, and Jamaica (Hibiscus) – are refreshing and delicious. For cocktails, enjoy their Pepino: cucumber purée, silver tequila, lime, and agave; Beso Rojo: tequila or mezcal with hibiscus, pomegranate, orange, lime, and agave; and Avenida Amsterdam: pineapple purée, Grand Marnier, lime, and orange juice with tequila or mezcal.

Make sure that you enjoy their Happy Hour which runs Monday-Friday until 7 PM.

ATHLEISURE LIST | CASH MOUNTAIN RANCH

December 15, 2025

Cash Mountain Ranch was built when Johnny Cash moved to Los Angeles, urged by his agents to pursue a film career, much like Elvis. However, he quickly grew to dislike L.A. and relocated about an hour away to Casitas Springs, where he designed and built his dream home for his young family. Johnny meticulously supervised every detail of the design. While out for a drive with his manager, he discovered the Ojai Valley, which he envisioned as the perfect location for his young family—a secluded, semi-rural paradise that was still conveniently close to L.A. At heart, Cash was a country boy.

In 2022, Jerry and Lisa Kenton purchased the property. They underwent a $1 milion restoration that took a year to lovingly return the house to its original state, with a retro-modern twist. Fortunately, the house was mostly intact, just a bit run down, so they elevated it while preserving its western mid-century glam charm.

Cash Mountain Ranch is in Casitas Springs, just 15 minutes from either Ojai or Ventura Beach, depending on your direction. It’s a charming, tiny town that you could easily miss if you blink, known for its vibrant creative community. If you know, you know!

They offer tours at $65 per person when available. Tickets can be purchased through their website. They also offer private tours for groups of 15 or more, which adds a unique experience for that special birthday or for that person that is a super fan!

Weddings at Cash Mountain Ranch are truly magical, set on the hill with dynamic 360-degree views. They can accommodate up to 14-guests to sleep overnight and up to 100-guests for an event or wedding, providing plenty of space to create the perfect backdrop for memories.

They plan to host events at Cash Mountain! The owners are musicians and creatives and are always creating space for fum and imagination.

The property features 5 unique bedrooms and 4.5 baths, including two master suites, one in glitter black and the other in glitter pink. The other suites have a retro or western flair. Every room was designed for fun & whimsy. Bookings are managed through Enchanted Vacation Rentals.

The property boasts endless amenities, sprawling across what feels like a football field. Guests will find Johnny’s original BBQ, a cozy pool and spa area, a game room with a pool table, piano and darts, and a poolside bar that was once a playhouse built for Johnny’s girls. Tables seat 50, as well as a wild-animal sanctuary on the lower level, ostriches and all. They also have a 700 square foot Recording Studio which can be booked separately or together.

Once you visit, this property carries the spirit of Johnny Cash’s adventurous and creative soul imprinted all over it!

ATHLEISURE LIST | KEBABISHQ

November 11, 2025

Kebabishq is the latest venture from Vamshi Adi (Executive Chef & Co-Owner) and Neel Mittal (Co-Owner) opened in August 2025 — they’re behind the Bib Gourmand–recognized restaurant Ishq in NYC.

Their vision involved bringinng a modern, fast-casual kebab concept rooted in deep South Asian (especially Hyderabadi) tradition to New York, with bold spices, live charcoal grilling, and accessible formats (rolls, bowls, loaded fries). The menu emphasizes 100% halal meats, vegetarian options, and house-made paneer.

Their Kebabs are marinated in proprietary spice blends and cooked over a live charbroiler to impart smoky, charred flavor.

Typical spices and aromatics you’ll find include: garam masala, cumin, coriander; ginger, garlic aioli; red chili/chili powder, green chili; turmeric, black pepper, mustard; yogurt or from Ishq, focusing on kebabs, grilled meats, and approachable formats.

The technique of marination + charcoal/open flame is central: the meats absorb the flavor deeply, then get “sealed” by the grill’s heat. Because it sits in the Indian kebab tradition, there is also likely influence from Mughlai, Hyderabadi, North Indian kebab substyles (seekh, tikka, etc.).

The menu is broken out with Kebabs/Grill which has core proteins (chicken, lamb, shrimp, paneer, and soya) in kebab form (skewers, cuts). There are Rolls/Wraps where kebabs or grilled meats wrapped in paratha/flatbreads with chutneys, sauces, salad. There is also a section focused on Bowls/Rice/Salad. There are Kebabs placed over pulao or rice, salad (greens), sometimes “loaded” versions (e.g. fries + toppings). They also have Sides & Small Plates which includes: Chutneys, breads (naan, paratha), crispy/fried items, salads, raita, etc. To complete the meal, there are Desserts & Refreshments. You can enjoy South Asian desserts (kulfi, falooda, etc.), lassi, chai, soft drinks, and other beverages. Finally, there are Custom/Add-ons which includes extra sauces, toppings, spice levels, extra protein, etc.

We suggest their Chicken Kebab Roll (or Paratha Roll with Chicken Kebab). It’s a marinated chicken, grilled, wrapped in soft paratha with chutneys and salad offers contrast in texture, spice, and freshness; Lamb Seekh Kebab Bowl/Over Pulao/Loaded Fries; and Paneer/Soya Kebab Option - a great vegetarian offer. If you prefer more exotic suggestion, we suggest their Shrimp Kebab.

For a side, we enjoyed their Bhel Puri – A classic Indian street food snack made with puffed rice, sev (crispy chickpea noodles), onions, tomatoes, herbs, and tangy tamarind chutney. Their Dahi Puri is a beloved chaat dish consisting of hollow, crispy puris filled with potatoes, chickpeas, chutneys, yogurt, and spices.

ATHLEISURE LIST | BIOGRAPH

October 19, 2025

We sat down with Dr. Michael Doney, Executive Medical Director of Biograph, the world’s most advanced preventive health and diagnostic clinic that is on a mission to drive meaningful advances in human healthspan and lifespan.

The flagship Biograph San Francisco Bay Area clinic opened to a small cohort of patients in 2020. The brand emerged from stealth this year, opening its second clinic location in New York City in early 2025.

This preventative health clinic was founded by John Hering and Dr. Peter Attia. It was founded after a cancer diagnosis of Hering’s best friend which sparked his deep belief that there should be an emphasis on preventative healthcare and with the proper application of advanced medical technology and early detection, more lives can be saved. With Dr. Attia and a team of experts aiming to address the gaps in traditional healthcare, the main goal was to create a clinic that focuses on prevention, precision, and performance rather than reactive care so you can live longer and better.

Their data driven approach provides a complete picture of your health across the 5 pillars most critical to long term health: cardiovascular, metabolic, neurodegenerative, cancer, and quality of life.

In a single day they deliver over 30 assessments and collect and collate 1,000+ data points. By curating the most advanced technologies, they provide a complete health picture.

Ultimately, a preventive health clinic is about partnership. It’s not just a single appointment but a continuous journey where they help you translate data into meaningful, actionable insights and create a personalized plan designed to maximize your healthspan and vitality.

Biograph offers up to 30+ advanced assessments, providing a comprehensive picture of your health through cutting-edge diagnostics. The specific assessments included depend on your membership tier. Core Membership includes essential diagnostics such as Whole-Body MRI, VO2 Max testing, Genetic Testing, and DEXA Body Composition Analysis. The Black Membership adds advanced screenings like CT Coronary Angiography, Multi-Cancer Early Detection Testing, and Multi-Modal Brain Health Assessments.”

They have private suites to serve as sanctuaries where members can disconnect from external pressures and immerse fully in their personalized health experience. Each suite is thoughtfully appointed to create a restorative, stress-free environment tailored to the needs of high-performing individuals who often arrive with very little downtime.

ATHLEISURE LIST | FANCY RANCH AMISH FRIED CHICKEN

September 17, 2025

This month, we make our way to DC to Fancy Ranch Amish Fried Chicken for this pop-up at Union Market that opened Jul 1st and initially, it was going to run through the end of Sep. But due to the feedback that they have received, they are now looking for a brick and mortar location!

This concept is a love letter to fried chicken and its story started with Chef Reid Shilling 5.5 years ago with their restaurant Shilling Canning Company in the Navy Yard which is very local farm focused. It’s a proven popular menu item that became a no-brainer to have within this concept.

The fact that in this concept they provide this chicken at a high value proposition, it was a no-brainer as it is truly delicious.

They offer on the bone fried chicken with their most popular item is The Lone Ranger - 1 3 piece Amish fried chicken, 2 piece corn waffle smothered in PA maple butter, 1 side (baked beans, mixed to order Coleslaw, or Aji verde potato salad), and 1 sauce for under $20 (pre tax) even for Chef Reid Shilling’s signature recipe that’s drizzled with their housemade hot honey, toasted Anson mills benne seeds, and chives.

Their Ranch Hands Family Meal is a 10 pc chicken, 8 pc corn waffle, two large sides and all the sauces for under $55 - which feeds 2-4 people. At brunch, you can get a fried egg in place of the side, but also have the Which Came First which is a 2 pc corn waffle with boneless crispy chicken breast, shaved ham, melted havarti, fried egg and then drizzled with PA maple syrup.

Their Aji Verde Potato Salad uses their Aji Verde dipping sauce as the base, so it has a kick to it. It has fresh clipped basil from the Shilling Canning Company Garden, and is blended with parsley, cilantro, and green onion, so the sauce is very herbaceous and that’s where it gets its green color from. They use Aji Amarillo which is unique in that the heat doesn’t present on your tongue but rather in the back of your throat and then an overall warming of the body that leaves you needing more. For the potato salad, they fold that into some sour cream and then add more lemon and more basil.

It’s worth noting thay they have a range of sauces from fancy ranch, honey mustard, Aji Verde, house-made hot honey, hot sauce, and a really rich PA maple syrup sourced from Patterson Farm up near New York. That’s the same syrup they make the maple butter from that already adorns the corn waffles.

On Sunday September 28, they are doing the Arcadia Farm Fall Harvest Dinner in Alexandria VA. The dinner benefits their Veteran Farmer Program.

ATHLEISURE LIST | FORZA PILATES

August 15, 2025

In the Winter of 2023, Sydney Dumler launched Forza Pilates as a high-end space where design, wellness, fashion, and community can coexist beautifully. With her background of being a group fitness instructor for 9 years as well as working with a number of wellness and fashion brands, she wanted a fitness space that was elevated, warm, and welcoming.

The studio features soft wood floors, ornate brass mirrors, and fresh branches from the local flower shop—every detail feels artfully curated. When you walk in, you’re greeted by their custom candle scent and clean linens, a personalized Reformer setup, and a sense that someone has anticipated your comfort even before you arrive.

Reformer Pilates strengthens the body in a way that’s smart and sustainable. It builds core stability, improves posture, and supports mobility—all while being gentle on the joints. Beyond the physical benefits, it trains your mind to move with intention, which translates into every part of your life.

If you are new to this method, it's worth noting that it is a full-body experience. It's about precision over pace - pilates is not about going fast, it's moving with control. Your exercise can be modified or advanced whether it's adjusting spring tension, grounding a hand or knee for support, or limiting your range of motion to protect from a previous injury.

There are 4 classes offered at their dio. Their signature Forte class offers a contemporary, intermediate-level flow designed for clients who love creative sequencing and fresh challenges. Foundations leans into classical principles, focusing on precision and control—proof that slowing down can be just as (if not more) demanding. Aria brings the energy with a cardio-infused workout set to an upbeat playlist, making it the perfect excuse to move, sweat, and have fun. Finally, Recovery is their foam rolling and mobility session—the ultimate “hurts so good” release your body craves after a week of classes.

There are a number of amenities that include a warm and attentive staff, a curated retail selection, and in the bathrooms they have Aesop and Oak Essentials. In many ways, the atmosphere of the space feels more like a boutique hotel versus a traditional gym.

For Soho House members in Nashville, they can enjoy Forza Atelier there. They offer the Forza Method in an intimate setting. With just 6 Reformers, clients enjoy a highly personalized experience—where it’s not unusual to move alongside Nashville’s creative talent, including some of the artists on your own playlist. The Atelier also features a curated retail space, their creative extension that brings the Forza lifestyle beyond the studio.

Mat Ishbia (owner of the Phoenix Suns and Mercury) and Major Food Group (Jeff Zalaznick, Mario Carbone, Rich Torrisi) who has built CARBONE, ZZ’s Club, The Grill, and Sadelle’s. They've redefined dining in cities like New York, Miami, Hong Kong, and now Phoenix.

This is paired with Mat’s commitment to transforming downtown into a true lifestyle destination making this a perfect blend of creativity and ambition.

The Ra Ra Room is designed as a sultry Art Deco (think Gatsby elegance) speakeasy tucked discreetly within the event level of the PHX Arena. It’s intimate and indulgent, with layered textures, moody lighting, custom finishes, and a sense of discovery in every corner. There’s a lounge that hums with energy, two private dining rooms for more exclusive affairs - a gorgeous bar.

Membership isn’t limited to locals! Whether you live in Phoenix full-time or travel in often for Suns games, business, or leisure, The Ra Ra Room is designed to be your go-to escape. They're looking for individuals who appreciate luxury, exclusivity, and community. With curated experiences, concierge access, and event perks, it’s more than a dining membership—it’s a lifestyle investment.

The menu includes some of MFG’s greatest hits, with signature dishes like CARBONE’s Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, Veal Parmesan, and Caesar Salad alla ZZ. There’s also a stunning raw bar—Dressed King Crab, Half Lobsters, beautifully plated oysters—as well as classics like sizzling Shrimp Scampi and their crave-worthy Steakhouse Burger.

We also like that their lavish gourmet pantry that has their house-made popcorn, it's buttery, aromatic, totally addictive. Then there's the candy dispenser bar filled with every gummy variety you can imagine, like something straight out of a candy store, plus boxes on boxes of fan-favorites from chocolatey to fruity and beyond.

Their white-glove service starts from the moment you enter through an unmarked door signified only by a glowing martini icon. It includes a personalized reservation system, the highest quality of table attention, complimentary valet parking, and exclusive access to last-minute reservations or event tickets. Whether it’s a special celebration or a spontaneous night out, everything is tailored for ease, elegance, and delight.

ATHLEISURE LIST | TACOMBI

May 17, 2025

We love throughout the month to pop into our local Tacombi (Flatiron and West Village is in our rotation here in NYC). We love popping by for a late lunch and if it's Tues, we're partaking in the Taco Tuesday Club which allows you to buy 1 and get 1 free taco! The vibe is always chill, it's fun music, and you can get in and out quickly if you're interested or hang out with friends and family!

Tacombi began in 2006 in the Yucatán which is all about balmy weather, palm trees, and eternal beach vibes. Regardless of the location that you happen to grab a bite, you'll find those vibes in there - even when it's in the winter! By 2010, it came to NY and began popping up in various neighborhoods, and is now in a number of cities across the country!

We have a number of our go-to's that are non-negotiables when we come in! The Al Pastor Tacos which are so juicy with Mexico-style free-range pork that is marinated in chiles and spice. We love the slice of pineapple and being able to squeeze a bit of lime on it. We always pair it with Rice & Beans as well. Every now and then, we also like to add another taco from their Beef Birria with Jalisco Brisket and Chihuahua Cheese that is served with a savory broth!

It's always fun to pair this with their Mezcalita, a strawberry Mezcal drink that we have enjoyed in their Flatiron location as well as their Sandia Santa which is a watermelon aqua fresca with lime and tequila. It's always refreshing.

They also have a selection of beers. that are great to enjoy with whatever you decide to eat whether you're there for lunch or for dinner!

Defintiely make sure that you keep an eye out on their Instagram as they do a number of culinary collaborations where new items are added to the menu for a limited time. There may also be different menus depending on the location that you happen to dine in.

Whether you're dining in or getting take-out, you are bound to have a satisfying meal!
