Barba Men's Grooming Boutique Quarancuts' Virtual Hair School emerged as a way to challenge the issue of grooming that have been caused by COVID-19 due to NYC salons being closed to the public. With many being selected as amateur barbers, the need to teach them to do a proper cut was clear to Barba's Owner and Master Stylist, Xavier Cruz. He guides interested "stylists" through the techniques of men's haircuts online via Zoom. Simply DM Barba on Instagram and Quarancuts sessions air simultaneously on IGTV so that all those that are interested can learn how to maintain their hair.

The first amateur stylist to attend Quarancuts was Grammy-winning singer, Tony-winning actor and renowned style icon Billy Porter, who was enlisted to cut his husband Adam Smith's hair.

With 30 years in the industry, Xavier's work has appeared in an array of magazines, styled Broadway shows including Hairspray, The Boy from Oz, The Vagina Monologues and Metamorphosis. He is known for designing the "Coop", a hairstyle that was popularized by CNN's Anderson Cooper and created the army of Eminem lookalikes for the MTV Video Music Awards.

In opening his salon, he continued to evolve the industry by being the first in the nation to offer scalp micropigmentation (SMP), the fastest growing and least invasive answer to baldness.

It's not surprising that as we stay at home to flatten the curve that Barba found a way to maintain grooming needs. "Without a doubt, these are hard times, but not all is lost. Quarancuts puts us closer together. We created this program to not only make us feel great over our appearance, but to also have fun. We will certainly have some good laughs during our sessions." Graduates of this program, will receive a virtual diploma from the Quarancuts Virtual Hair School.

Although we have been enjoying warm temperatures, there is something about being able to enjoy hot chocolate during the winter. We found ourselves this month at The Wonderbon Chocolate Co. which opened on Feb 1st of this year as a pop up to mark the Hot Chocolate Festival that Hot Chocolate Maker Maury Rubin created and ran for 28 years each February at City Bakery.

This pop-up shop is meant to announce the creation of The Wonderbon Chocolate Co., a brand new chocolate company based primarily on hot chocolate. For the next 3 months, guests will be able to enjoy the treats offered here and there is a chance that it will continue as a location beyond this time period.

Two sizes are available as a 4oz. "Shot" for $4 and an 8oz. "Regular" for $5.50. We enjoyed their Hot Chocolate Happy Hour which takes place Monday - Friday from 5-7pm. They serve a rotational flight menu. We enjoyed Mezcal-Spiked Hot Chocolate with an Onyx Cocoa-Salted Rim, White Chocolate Hot Chocolate with Walnut Liquor, Bourbon Hot Chocolate with Chocolate Whipped Cream and a regular hot chocolate without alcohol. These all come in the shot sizes.

The one of a kind menu of hot chocolates by Maury Rubin has been a longtime evolving work. Some of his best-known concoctions throughout the years include Vanilla Bean Hot Chocolate, Ginger Hot Chocolate, Tropical Hot Chocolate, and Sunken Treasure Hot Chocolate. New flavors include White Miso Hot Chocolate, Brown Sugar Hot Chocolate and White Chocolate with Plum Jam, Coriander, and Cinnamon.

There are new flavors being created each day. The shop serves four to eight flavors daily, with a rotating menu. This is definitely a great way to pop in to see what new flavors are available as the pop-up continues.

The bigger plan for Wonderbon Chocolate is to create a line-up of ready to drink hot chocolates for the home, with a level of quality and creativity that customers will enjoy.

In Tribeca, we tried out a new studio that focuses on your lymphatic system through drainage as it has machines that massage and shape your body across 15 areas. The infrared heated roller can have its speed adjusted and has heat that is infused into your treatments. The Body Roll Studio is located in Tribeca and is founded by Piret Aava who is also the owner of Eyebrow Doctor which is located above this fitness studio.

The machine's wooden rolls improve the circulation of your blood and lymph system. These movements can assist in speeding up your metabolism, reduce fat tissue and eliminate waste products. In addition to reducing elements out of your body, you may find that in doing regular sessions, you may find firmer skin, muscle tightness being broken up and shaping the body. Ultimately, users may find it's a great fat burning and cellulite reduction.

The machine has a screen that showcases what body part you will be focused on. For in-depth information and having an ongoing tutorial, there is a larger screen within your room that shows how your body should be aligned to the machine as well as variations that you can do. With 15 body parts that are focused on, the device works at 3-minute intervals per part when enjoying a 45 min. session.

Each room is equipped with stools so as you rotate your body and do differ ent positions. This institution was established by Mama Anna Silvestri and family in 1972, Caffe Napoli introduced the sidewalk cafe in Little Italy. What started as a modest cafe matured into a full dining establishment catering to New Yorkers and tourists from all over the world.

Napoli Pastry was created by Louis Fontana (who’s grandmother Mama Anna founded Caffe Napoli) to bring back what originally started Caffe Napoli - pastries and coffee. The pastry and dessert recipes have been passed down from 4 generations, satisfying customers from all over the world.

When it comes to 3 signature dishes that you should have when you have a meal here, we suggest the Linguine (seafood over linguine), Veal Osso Buco (veal shank tenderized on the bone with a jus reduction with homemade Gnocchi on the side) and Lobster Ravioli (stuffed with ricotta and lobster in a pink sauce with asparagus and shrimp).

Clearly, you can’t leave without having one of their cannolis. They have 7 different types of cannolis that have been with them over the past 47 years (Classic, Chocolate, Half and Half, Strawberry, Chocolate Strawberry, Pistachio, and Cappuccino flavored). There are also seasonal ones based on what the season calls for such as Pumpkin for the fall and they even make them for special events! Also there have a pink and blue for baby showers. We've always enjoyed a bowl of Mac and Cheese - regardless of the time of year; however, at this time of year - there definitely feels like there couldn't be anything better then this as temperatures continue to drop! Although we have been on a number of occasions, it's important to know a few things before making your first order as there are over 30 mix-ins that you can do to make your own Mac and Cheese or you funds for Breast Cancer Awareness, they offered a Beet and Capri Mac and Cheese where $1 went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Size options include: Snack Mac (8 oz.), Meal Mac (12 oz.), Hungry Mac (16 oz.) and Family Mac (28 oz). Enhance your order by adding $5 to include a soup or a salad and a select beverage (a number of waters, cold brew coffees and seltzers are offered). It was on a rainy day this month when we enjoyed High Tea Service at Plaza Athénée New York at Bar Seine which has a warm aesthetic from plush chairs, wingtipped chairs and more. Our High Tea Service included a 3 course meal of: warm scones, croissants, and muffins, complete with clotted cream, honey, butter, and preserves. We also enjoyed an array of sandwiches including savory smoked salmon and ultra-fresh cucumber & lobster salad. The third course included a number of sweets from chocolate covered strawberries, dark and white chocolates and more!

In terms of the tea selection, there were 10 to choose from. To enhance this tea, you can also add a glass of champagne which is what one would expect at this five star hotel.

For those that are tea enthusiasts, Afternoon Tea refers to a selection of finger foods to enjoy with your tea; however, HIgh Tea is more substantial in terms of the offerings and a bit more filling. Plaza Athénée New York's service is available from 2-5pm and has a knowledgeable staff that can walk you through the tea service and answer any questions that you have regarding milk in your tea, putting cream on your scones and more.

When the weather is warm or even when there's just a hint of a chill in the area, it's obvious to think about running outside. But when the weather turns, for those runners that don't want to battle the elements, there is a studio that will allow them to continue comfortably with oxygen-enriched air!

We headed to Precision Run which is founded by athlete, David Siik who created a program within Equinox Gyms and who has a standalone studio in Flatiron. Precision Run's indoor treadmill class has custom Woodway Treadmills where you will increase your speed, incline as well as activate your recovery periods. This workout method is an interval training done in 3 parts. In each part you have a serious of increased movement. In the first section, you run for a minute and recover for a minute, in the second portion you run for 90 seconds and recover for 90 seconds and in the final section, you run for 2 minutes with 90-second recovery. Within these regimented periods, the instructor guides you through the various challenges you need to do with incremental adjustments.

As you advance throughout the 50-minute classes, there are visual cues that alert you when you're engaging in the next step of the run or transition into recovery. The music also changes to go along with the various portions of the run and the screen allows you to see your progress. Guests can access their app which keeps all the data of the races you have run. In addition, when you come to class, your machine is already set with your stats as well.

After taking this performance-based class, you leave knowing about your PR - Personal Record the fastest speed in miles per hour that you can maintain for 1 minute. We enjoyed this total body core workout as well as after the run there are a series of workouts you do on the treadmill on your back to work your muscles as well as to begin the process of stretching.

The amenities offered at Precision Run studios includes a recovery station with a number of products by Hyperice to target your muscles in the way that works best for you. All lockers also have USB charging outlets and the bathrooms offer premium amenities for use after class. There is also a bar area where you can purchase performance beverages as well as bars.

For those that enjoy having cups of tea that are innovative and filled with decadent flavor, Le Tea is your new destination. Since June 20th of this year, they have had a rolling soft opening with its grand opening being on August 18th.

Located in NoMad on Broadway, there is an active exploration of space in NYC for additional locations such as Long Island City and Staten Island.

Le Tea was founded by fashion graduates of Parsons The Newschool for Design in NYC. They believe that their aesthetic as a medium for beverages draws a connection between art and life. In addition, environmental protection is key as they have recyclable stainless steel "Golden Straws" and high-quality Pet 1 non-disposable plastic cups.

The brand utilizes French Purée and authentic Chinese tea sources which satisfies their customers with a novel tea beverage that is bitter yet sweet. This not only refers to tea culture, but the art of life as well. With all the senses being utilized, guests can enjoy a tea that is highly aromatic with a drink that resonates with their personal life as well.

Three signature teas that are recommended are Mango Fruit Tea & Milk Foam, Mixberry Fruit Tea & Milk Foam and also Starry Kumquat Lemon. Fruit tea is the most popular category on the menu. An interesting offering that one should try is Le Cheese Coffee which is only available at Le Tea. It's a mixed taste of cold brew coffee and salt cheese foam. It's definitely a unique tasting experience.

We suggest pairing these beverages with some of our faves: Rose Mille Crepes, Mini Croissants and Moon Cakes. In addition, if you're looking to take a few moments for yourself or with friends, then sitting in the tea salon is a great way to take in the fall and catch up on emails, reading or taking a moment of zen.

Wine is definitely one of those beverages that we enjoy drinking with our meals, sharing with friends and knowing more about it. We took a moment during NYFW to checkout City Wine Tours which allows you to choose a neighborhood where you will visit 2 eateries to know more about 3 wines that you will sample at each place as well as appetizers at the culinary destinations. You walk away knowing more about the varietals, taking notes about the wines you enjoy during the tour and being able to flex your wine muscles.

Back in 2011, 3 wine-drinking friends; Dan Andrew, Rick Goldberg, and Christian Iannucci began this company in Boston in 2011. Wes Narron joined as Chief Wine Ambassador soon after. Wes believes that learning about wine should be as much fun as drinking it.

For those in Boston, you can select tours in North End, South End, Back Bay and Harvard Square. In NYC, these tours are available in Soho, West Village and Upper West Side. Those in Philadelphia can go to Old City, Center City and Fishtown.

When it comes to pairing restaurants within the tours to the wines, City Wine Tours tries to find restaurants that have a wine list pricing based on value, rather than obscurity or exclusivity. Then they set up the 6 wines like you would see at any official wine tasting. They include a sparkling wine, dry white, sweeter right or rose, light bodied red, medium to full bodied red and something interesting.

In addition to signing up for a tour that has various people within it, there are options available when it comes to private ones as well. City Wine Tours wants their guests to have a great experience. They have put together corporate dinners, in-house or in-office tastings, Match.com dating events, wine blending competitions, birthday tours, bachelorette tours and intimate 2-person tours (where the dessert was a marriage proposal).

In terms of adding a twist to offerings that are available and providing options to stimulate their guests, they have tried various approaches such as Sparkling Wines only, Big Red Wines only, Mommy's Night Out as well as Wine and Chocolate.

City Wine Tours' focus is to continue to add more options in the East Coast and then to spread through the rest of the US. For those in Washington, D.C., Nashville and Providence, keep your eye out for this experience to roll into these areas.

CHILLHOUSE launched in 2017 and was founded by Cyndi Ramirez-Fulton, an entrepreneur with a creative vision who has made a name for herself in the lifestyle, fashion and hospitality industries through her award-winning website Taste The Style, and a partner of The Garret in New York City. Along with her husband and co-founder, Cyndi sought out to change the relaxation landscape with her latest project, CHILLHOUSE.

Prior to starting her own businesses, Cyndi worked as the Brand Director of Third Wave Fashion, a fashion tech consultancy. CHILLHOUSE is a wellness brand as a destination for modern self-care that opened on Manhattan's Lower East Side. It debuted a first of its kind nail salon and massage boutique with a full service café and bar. As a downtown escape for city dwellers seeking a modern path to total relaxation with style, character and ease. It offers guests luxury beauty services at affordable prices in an aspirational setting that you can enjoy at your own will.

Guests can enjoy colorful lattes and baked goods while they're meeting with friends, working on projects or waiting to get a service done. Services cover a number of options for body, nails and face with various choices within each group.

In 2018, SHOP CHILL, an onine retail arm launched with offerings that included accessories and a curated selection of the best products on the market. These items are tested by Cyndi and the team so that they can stand by what they sell. Their membership program CLUB CHILL was created as a way for customers to experience and connect with CHILLHOUSE in a different way. Members receive discounts on services, access to special events and perks from brand partners. CHILLHOUSE has partnered with H&M, Nike, Club Monaco and more.

We have become fans of BIVE, which stands for Balance + Vitality, which are the two biggest principles of the brand. They want to show people that even with something that’s typically considered as indulgent as ice cream, one can still incorporate it into their diet and feel good about it. BIVE is ice cream with a purpose.

BIVE opened its doors in September 2018 but was in process long before that. Founder Carla Noboa spent over a year perfecting the initial offerings to maximize the benefits of the superfoods while still creating something delicious.

The original flavors were Boost Me Up (Passion Fruit, Collagen, Chia seeds, Coconut water and Amaranth), Soothe Me Up (Valerian root, Toasted coconut, Almond milk, Coconut cream, Dark chocolate chip and Vanilla), Pick Me Up (Dark chocolate, Coconut milk, Coconut cream, Chia seeds and Amaranth),

Keep Me Strong (Echinacea and Soursop), Keep Me Balanced (Strawberries, Goji berries and Vitamin C) and Keep Me Comfy (Peppermint, Aloe vera, Dark chocolate and Oat milk).

Carla comes from a nutrition background and wanted to find a fun way to consume superfoods. As an avid ice cream fan, she kept looking for options that could satisfy a sweet tooth and promote balance + vitality, but most of the “healthy” options available were merely cold and artificially sweet. She set out to create something new: an ice cream with a purpose that used real ingredients from Mother Earth. For her, being connected to nature and being satisfied with what you put in your body was personally fulfilling. She wanted to find a way to help others do the same.

BIVE offers seasonal flavors that currently include: Sexy Butter (Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips, Cocoa Butter, Coconut Oil, Coconut Milk, Cashew Milk, and Maca), which is designed to enhance energy balance hormones, and improve sexual dysfunction.

The seasonal flavors tend to stick around longer than initially planned because customers love them so much! There are a bunch of ideas in the works for fall, come by the shop to see what makes the final cut.

The cones provided at BIVE come from the Konery, which hand rolls all their cones in Brooklyn. BIVE currently offers French Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Matcha, and Lavender, but this lineup will change as new flavors are developped.

All flavors are available in pints at BIVE as well as GrubHub, Postmates, Seamless, and UberEats. They sell pre-packaged individual 4 oz portions which you can purchase in groups of 4.

For many people, ice cream is comfort food. It's a natural stress reliever by its sheer existence, but then by the time you finish, you sometimes end up feeling sluggish or depressed. BIVE believes ice cream can make you feel good emotionally and physically! They’ve worked hard to find natural and holistic ways to make ice cream an entirely positive experience.

Fans of City Winery will want to also keep City Winery Pop-up as its a sister location. City Vineyard has a number of wines to enjoy as well as entertainment. City Winery Pop-up opened on July 25th, 2019. These vino oriented destinations are founded by Michael Dorf who is also the CEO.

When you're enjoying their housemade wines (Soho-Vignon Blanc, Rosè of Syrah, Pinot Noir) at City Winery Pop-up, we suggest the Chickpea hummus and the burrata. At City Vineyard, we have two words - Seafood Platter.

Each location has its draw from City Vineyard having a rooftop that is open for the summer and allows for weekend brunches with patio seating throughout the year.

City Winery's last show with Joan Osborne takes place on July 31st. City Winery will reopen on Pier 57 in early 2020. City Winery is known for its intimate concerts and their house-made wines. City Winery is a concert venue, wine making facility and restaurant all in one! It's for those that are passionate about wine, music and culinary arts. In addition to concerts, there are opportunities to enjoy food and wine classes as well as to have private events.

With the closing of City Winery, guests can go to Rockefeller Plaza to enjoy their pop-up. In addition, this fall, City Winery will open in Philadelphia as well as in the Hudson Valley. Make sure to visit their website to see an array of events such as Vino Vinyasa which is held on the rooftop of City Vineyard with their next one taking place on Aug 11th.

A Room at the Beach opened in 2018 in Bridgehampton, NY. Founded by Lucy Swift Weber and Charles Lemonides, two passionate entrepreneurs and travel-enthusiasts, were interested in creating a boutique hotel as an expression of their love for The Hamptons.

With only 10 rooms at the hotel, they were designed via the founder's inspired travels of their favorite places around the world, including Marrakesh, Harbour Island, Tulum, and Ireland. Unfussy, barefoot luxury is what defines this Hamptons destination.

The classic structure was rebuilt in a soft cedar exterior and up-to-date interiors. To create a sense of it being all about the outdoors they built an expansive, well defined deck in the front and put doors in each shower to the back. The star of the property is the parallen rows of redwoods that pull you out into the center of the property.

Each room is meticulously decorated with its own look and feel to bring to life the best of the locale's treasures.

When staying at A Room at the Beach, there are a number of in-room amenities that include: Frette linens and robes, full-sized Malin & Goetz toiletries, and personal Nespresso machines. Gourmet minibars are stocked with Casa Dragones tequila and treats from L&W Market, the latest offshoot of the Almond group, co-owned by Charles’s brother Eric.

The hotel is a short walk away from the charming hamlet of Bridgehampton and is just two and a half miles from some of the Hampton's most beautiful beaches. It is also a mile away from the popular Wolffer Estate Vineyard and three miles from Sag Harbor.

Guests are welcomed to enjoy the sauna, outdoor pool, and expansive garden. Serena & Lily bicycles are available for a quick excursion to the beach, the nearest park, or the best fishing spot. Beach passes are available to all guests and Weber grills are also available throughout the property. Yoga is additionally offered to guests every weekend.

There is always the ability to book the hotel for a private event as well.

Camp Wonderful is a summer camp for adults that launched in August of 2017. Co-Founded by Jonah and Paige, both enjoyed their experiences attending camps and enjoying the transformative experiences that take place when one is within this environment. Both also worked at Cirque du Soleil.

Campers enjoy an array of activities that allow them to rest, recharge and to engage with fellow attendees. With professional trained on-staff counselors, activities include arts & crafts, writing, playing music, self-defense, sensory walks, night hikes, greeting card making, speaking Shakespeare, book readings, acroyoga and more.

Guests have access to luxury cabins, outdoor areas, 2 lakes, heated pool, athletic fields, theater and performance space, yoga an dance spaces, gyms, and full art studios.

This camping experience is recreational drug and alcohol free as well as tech free (no access to your smartphones) which allows people to connect with one another and to truly be present.

When purchasing your all inclusive camp experience, breakfast, lunch and dinner are created by expert foodies that meets the dietary needs (food allergies, restrictions and preferences) of the guests that are attending. Previous campers have enjoyed the late night snacks offered at Ma's Basement (their camp canteen) like s'mores.

Guests can stay in a shared luxe cabin or they can bring their own tent and camp on the grounds. Cabins come with attached private bathrooms, air conditioning, shaded porches, beds with premier bedding and pillows and you can select inclusive/mixed gender or an all male/female housing.

Campers can drive to the camp or can take Camp Wonderful's private buses that are $75 round trip. In addition, you can purchase single or group tickets.

You can still reserve your 4-day/3-night camp experience by selecting Sept Sept 5th - Sept 8th or Sept 12th - Sept 15th. Each all inclusive experience is available at $799. To get an idea of what's in store for you, make sure to check out an itinerary.
