We are all subject to marketing and advertising on a daily basis. Nowadays it seems like even thinking about skin care will get you bombarded with countless ads and sponsored post on social media. But how trustworthy are some of the marketing buzzwords used to describe the effects of skincare merchandise? We reached out to an anti-aging expert and board-certified Denver Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Manish Shah. Shah advocates helping consumers understand what this frequently used language means. Dr. Shah is also an ethical patient safety advocate.
“There are many ways marketers attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of the consumer with empty phrases and jargon,” comments Dr. Shah. “A phrase such as ‘clinically tested’ and ‘doctor recommended’ is used to mislead consumers into thinking a certain product has more credibility than it actually does.” However, Dr. Shah explains, when these phrases are used it says nothing for the results of the clinical tests or what the products were tested for. In terms of products being “Doctor recommended,” Shah warns that “consumers don’t know what doctor recommended the product in most cases and if those doctors are getting some sort of incentive for endorsement.”
Dr. Shah shares common marketing jargon phrases used to mislead consumers.
A Product that claims “Patented Technology”
“Patents are not necessarily a foolproof sign that something is groundbreaking or effective,” explains Dr. Shah. “Marketers use this language to convey innovation and superiority that their product might not necessarily have over its competitors,” he says. Patents are sometimes authorized through technicality instead of breakthrough meaning any new combination of ingredients, methods or production process can be patented as long as it is new.
“Maximum strength”
This is a term used often by skin cleansers and moisturizers. “It’s a relative term and the consumer doesn’t really know what it is relevant to. It’s language that entices the shopper to make the purchase without really telling them how it accomplishes ‘maximum strength’ results,” says the Denver Plastic Surgeon.
“Clinical strength”
From painkillers to hydrating serums, companies love to bill their products as having “clinical strength.” Dr. Shah says consumers should practice healthy skepticism with such claims. “A product that claims it has clinical strength, in many cases, could have been tested by the doctors developing it. If you think about it you can’t really pinpoint what that phrase means because it is relative and we have no context as to what the company considers clinical strength,” says Shah. The perception, explains Dr. Shah, is that the product is better because the world clinical makes it sound more credible.
“For All Skin Types”
“This is a difficult promise to deliver on,” says Shah who has practiced his specialty for 14 years. “Not all skin is the same. If someone has an allergy to an ingredient or some form of dermatitis they really should speak to their doctor about what products are best to include in their regiment instead of blindly trusting a label,” he says.
“FDA Approved”
The FDA has different protocols for skincare products that make cosmetic claims as opposed to those that make more medical claims such as promising to increase production of collagen in the skin. Since that is a body function the FDA treats those differently than normal skincare products. However the FDA just stipulates that the product being sold is safe to use in the manner in which it is directed to be used “FDA approval is not credential that shows the superiority of results,” says Dr. Shah. The plastic surgeon recommends that you not be sold on the sole factor of an FDA approval.
“Anti-Aging, Revitalizing, or Age Defying”
We’ve all seen these on the labels of some cream or serum or advertised in a commercial where beautiful models and actresses are displayed in all of their airbrushed and well-lit perfection. “These terms are somewhat misleading in that they give the perception of an unrealistic turning back of the clock,” says Dr. Shah. To many consumers viewing an advertisement, it might seem like buy and using that product will help them look like an ageless actress and that is not accurate.” Aging gracefully and maintaining a more youthful look has a lot to do with nutrition, exercise, genes, consistent skin care, stress levels, and cosmetic procedures when necessary. But according to Shah, people cannot cling onto just one aspect in order to look their best and no one product will reverse the clock.
Medical-Looking Packaging
Be wary of bottles that look like test tubes, labels or packages that include a medical or first aid cross, or feature type that looks like Rx suggesting that it’s a prescription-strength formula even though it’s sold over the counter.
Botanical
Dr. Shah explains that “An actual botanic is technically an ingredient that is derived from a plant. But, again, “botanical” may be used in advertising to refer to something that is synthetic but acts similar to a plant-based ingredient.”
Instant Results
Keep in mind that “instant results” aren’t the same as “long-term results.” Meaning, you may use a product that gives you instant moisture or has a quick-acting firming effect, but those results may fade after a few hours and require reapplication. Dr. Shah’s final advice: “Check a product to make sure it specifies whether its “instant” effects are long lasting or short term.”
Firming
What you think it means: Proven to make skin look tauter.
What it really means: Essentially nothing. “There is no objective way to measure firming,” says Dr. Shah “When a brand says their product has been shown to firm your skin, that claim can only be based on very subjective consumer perception.”

With a new year ahead of us, we wanted to showcase go to looks when it comes to living our lives - a lounge look, fitness look, an on the go look as well as an evening look. These ensembles take us through a number of the activities that we do throughout the week. There's nothing better than being able to share those moments with a friend and our Wilhelmina models from this shoot, Charlie (cover, right) and Alyne (cover, left) show us how to get out of the doldrums of what can be monotonous weather with hot bodies, fresh faces, fun prints and pops of color.
To create the makeup looks for the Jan 2019 cover shoot, MAKEUP ARTIST Jessica Bonilla used the following products:
CHARLIE LOUNGE STYLE + FITNESS STYLE // MAKEUP | Foundation/Concealer/Contour - Cinema Secrets 500A Series | Foundation Pallet Powder Contour - NYX Cosmetics Contour Pallet | Blush - BH Cosmetics Blush Pallet | Glow/Highlight - MAC Cosmetics Skin Mineralizing Highlight | Lips - KKW Beauty Lip Gloss in Super Nude | Mascara - Inglot | Eyeshadow - KKW Beauty Shadow Pallet in "Albanian" | Sweat - Kryolan Transparent Jelly |

To create the hairstyles for the Jan 2019 cover shoot, HAIR STYLIST Lea DeLoy used the following products to achieve the looks:
Lea started each look with Kevin Murphy Anti-gravity spray. Added a light layer of spray to each layer of the hair to protect from heat, hold the curl and add style memory for long lasting waves. Went through the hair picking up random pieces and wrapped on this inside of a classic curling inch iron. Use the inside of a classic iron in the same way as a wand because it gives a better wave. This also was how the finished down do was created on Charlie in the dress.
The lived in side braid- sprayed in KM Bedroom hair for that lived in volumized sexy hair look. Secured the top half if the hair with a hair tie, but placed slightly off to the side. Pulled at it slightly to create loose feel with random pieces pulled out. Pulled the rest over to the side and braided. Pulled the braid apart for a thicker more dramatic braid.
The up styles sectioned the hair into 2 or 3 ponytails. Top/middle/bottom keeping them all close together. Slightly pulled through each pony and pulling them apart creating a messy “bun” look on each pony. Wrapped the extra hair hanging out from each pony and secured them with bobby pins to fill in the voids between the pony tails. Finished up with Kevin Murphy Flex spray for a light moveable hold.
The dramatic bubble pony looks amazing for any occasion, from working out to a dressy evening out. Started with Kevin Murphy Bedroom hair to bulk up the texture. Sectioned hair into 4 pony’s starting at the top and working down to the nape. Secured hair together with a hair tie right below each pony and pulled apart to desired “bubble” size. Simply continued this effect by adding hair ties throughout the Extra hair below the nape and pulled out each section. Finished with KM Flex spray.

Our cover editorial was shot at 498 West End Ave on the UWS in NYC. We sat down with Louise Phillips Forbes, Licensed Assoc. Real Estate Broker, Halstead Real Estate located at 499 Park Avenue to discuss the property.
ATHLEISURE MAG: We were in this building a few years ago when we first interviewed you for Athleisure Mag. What can you tell us about the building as a whole, how you came onto this project and what your involvement is?
LOUISE PHILLIPS FORBES: I remember that interview well and it's always a pleasure to spend time in conversation with you. I'm a big fan of Athleisure! I have the privilege of being the director of sales and marketing for the development project underway at 498 West End Avenue, which is a pre-war conversion of a beautiful turn-of-the-20th century building from a rental residence to a luxury condominium by developer Samson Management. The magnificent bones of this quintessential Upper West Side landmark and its ageless edifice constructed in 1910 by
Neville & Bagge who provided the ideal envelope for CetraRuddy Architecture to thoughtfully design and reimagine it for a 21st century lifestyle. The result is sublime and we refer to it as "A story of exceptionalism."
AM: The lobby is stunning, please tell us more about this area.
LPF: The extensive renovation began outside the building with the restoration of the façade, which was re turned to its original splendor through an extensive cleaning and repair process. A highlight is the elegant and fully-restored ornamental metal marquee with glass canopy. It's a beautiful entrance to the building with period wrought iron doors that open onto a newly re-designed lobby. Complete with a 24-hour doorman, the lobby features decorative bronze wall panels in a geometric pattern, and walls and flooring in a composition of Vanillis Pearl polished and honed marble and St. Laurent honed marble. It's very inviting, and although more contemporary than how it was, it pays homage to the original pre-war splendor.
AM: This duplex penthouse for our January cover shoot has amazing views, multiple terraces, sun-drenched rooms throughout, and abundant bedrooms, what can you tell us about this property?
LPF: It's a spectacular, one-of-a-kind residence that possesses a grandeur, both in scale and workmanship, boasting spectacular finishes and impressive room scale. This newly-constructed, expansive, full-floor duplex penthouse is an addition to the building's architectural heritage, with 3,646 interior square feet containing grandly proportioned rooms, and 3,002 exterior square feet made up of five terraces, two of which are off of the master suite, with amazing views in all four directions. There are five large bedrooms, four full bathrooms, one powder room, and a huge eat-in kitchen with truly high-end appliances and finishes - custom chocolate-stained cerused oak cabinetry with light bronze accent trim and pulls, Calacatta marble slab countertops and backsplash, and appliances from Miele, Gaggenau, and Bertazzoni. The premium grade designer details that grace the interiors impart a pervasive sense of quality, and the curated design ushers in a new vernacular - a rare combination of prewar craft and contemporary artistry, perfect for entertaining as well as restorative time at home. This penthouse residence is a standout amongst its competitors, elevating it to a timeless sophistication satisfying the needs of the most discerning buyer.
AM: The interior design for this unit is gorgeous! Tell us about the interior designer and what was the inspiration behind the aesthetic.
LPF: As we do for most of our projects with this developer, we contracted with Robin Mayer of Robin Mayer Designs. Together with her team and my director of PR and marketing, Richard Johnson, they brought the space to life and created a home that everyone can see themselves living in. It's both inspirational and aspirational, with furnishings and accessories that while lavish and sophisticated, are also warm, comfortable, and inviting. Capitalizing on the abundance of natural light, breathtaking views, and voluminous rooms, they incorporated many notable brands. Highlights include: outdoor furniture and several indoor pieces from Restoration Hardware, rugs from ABC Carpet & Home, furnishings and accessories from Ralph Lauren Home, Keno Brothers Furniture Collection, Homenature, and vintage mid-century pieces from Italian designer Marco Zanuso. I'm so pleased and proud of the results.
AM: Tell us about the artwork that is in this unit and is there anything about the artist that you can share?
LPF: We have many stunning pieces of artwork showcased in the staging of this home, but I'm thrilled to feature two exceptional works by artist Aubrey Mayer - (1) Christopher Wool Contact Sheet v.3, 2016, ink jet on canvas 72"x59", hanging in the foyer, and (2) Laura Owens, Nate Lowman, Mark Grotjahn Contact Sheet, 2017, framed dye sublimation on aluminum 70"x50", hanging in the dining room. We are so fortunate to have his art on display in this home and everyone who's been here has fallen in love with these two pieces. They are simply stunning! Aubrey Mayer is a self-taught photographer and painter, and he has works included in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum and the Columbia University Art Museum. I would like to see the two works we have in the penthouse become permanent additions here (wink, wink). They are so perfect for the space. Fingers crossed the future buyer agrees.
AM: What amenities are offered in the building?
LPF: The renovation of this pre-war gem includes the addition of a fully-equipped fitness center and children's playroom, along with the conveniences of secured storage units and bicycle storage, both of which are things New Yorkers appreciate in a city where space is limited.
AM: What neighborhood is this building located in and what can you tell us about the area?
LPF: This building is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at the corner of 84th Street and West End Avenue. It's an ideal area of the city because it's convenient to so many things. Riverside Park is just one block away with a wide variety of outdoor activities - bike and jogging paths, skateboarding, dog runs, tennis and basketball courts, soccer fields, and much more. You have easy access to the West Side Highway, plus Equinox and SoulCycle are close by, as are boutique shops and retail stores, charming cafes and fine dining restaurants, grocery stores, and parking garages, in addition to the crosstown bus and subway. It's also the area of the city where I call home and reared my two sons, so I might be a little biased.
AM: For people interested in purchasing this apartment, how can they find out more information?
LPF: Showings of the home are by appointment only and interested parties are welcome to contact me directly on my cell at 917-846-8640 or via email at lphillips@halstead.com. They can also check out the online listing to view beautiful photographs and a floor plan here.
AM: Where can readers see other properties that you represent?
LPF: It's easy, simply visit my website at LouisePhillipsForbes.com and click on the tab for "My Listings." I represent a wide variety of homes and we have some very special active listings at the moment so I encourage people to check them out. They can also find out more about me and my team. I have negotiated deals all over NYC and even some in the surrounding suburban areas. I'm networked with the best brokers domestically and globally so I would welcome the opportunity to chat with folks and find out how I can best be of service. I consider myself more of an educator than a salesperson, and it's a privilege to be a part of the buying and selling process for people. After all, your home is the foundation upon which the rest of your life is built.

Celebrity Manicurist and Owner of As U Wish Nail Spa, Skyy Hadley has a few tips on what we need to know about Nail Health especially for those of us that enjoy getting gel manicures!
If getting a gel or acrylic set is inevitable, take proper care of your nails prior to the treatment to reduce damage post-removal. Use a nail hardener so nails will become stronger and less prone to damage.
Avoid keeping gel or acrylics on for longer than two weeks, with three-week wear being the absolute max. Nails need to breath in order to be healthy, and these heavy polishes suffocate the nail beds and cuticles.
Once your polish is removed, it’s instrumental to begin the repair process immediately to minimize long-term damage. The Sally Hansen Gel Rehab Overnight Nail Mask is the perfect remedy because after applying, drying and going to bed, all you have to do is wash off the treatment to reveal healthier nails. For nails that are super damaged, apply the treatment three consecutive nights in a row.
In addition to the Overnight Nail Mask, moisturizing and taking vitamins will help to strengthen your nails between manicures, and helps to achieve strong, healthy nails for the long-run.

The weather is only going to keep getting colder. So, it’s imperative that we protect our nails no matter what! We talked with Celebrity Manicurist, Skyy Hadley on what we should do to make sure that are hands look good especially during this cold and dry part of the year!
Start with a Clean Canvas Hand cream is a necessity for winter hydration, but too much of it will make your nail polish come right off. Be sure to use nail polish remover before each polish application to remove surface oils, and make for a cleaner and more long-lasting manicure.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate Cold, dry air and a chilly climate is going to suck the moisture out of your skin, and this includes your hands, nails, and cuticles. Apply and re-apply a nourishing cuticle oil as needed throughout the day to avoid hangnails, cracked cuticles, and peeling nails. Seal in the moisture with a heavy-duty hand cream, and you'll be good to go.
Never Go Naked Think of nail polish as a strong suit of armor for your nails. Having a fresh manicure makes you look polished and put-together and at the same time prevents your natural nails from peeling, breaking, and chipping. Save on time (and extra steps) and use an all-in-one formula with a built-in base and top coat.
Use a Nail Strengthener Create the ultimate barrier of protection using a nail strengthener which will prevent splitting, chipping, and cracking, all while helping your nails grow. Use it as a strengthening base coat - or for those who prefer to go au naturale, paint on one coat for a shield of protection without the polish.

When it comes to getting glamorous hair many of the world's celebs turn to Sarah Potempa, a bicoastal hairstylist whose clientele includes: Lea Michele, Emily Blunt, Ana de Armas, Busy Philipps and Millie Bobby Brown. Editorially, her work has graced shoots for Vogue, Paper, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Esquire, and W. In addition, she has been the hair partner for a number of Fashion Week shows as well as Victoria's Secret shows. She is the Creator and CEO of the best-selling Beachwaver Co. curling iron and styling tools.
We took some time to chat with this hair visionary to find out about how she came up with this successful line, upcoming launches and her participation as a partner in the World Surf League as the title sponsor of the first ever Beachwaver Maui Pro.
ATHLEISURE MAG: Tell us about the a-ha moment that took place for you to create The Beachwaver Co.
SARAH POTEMPA: My “aha” moment came when I was on the phone with a beauty editor describing how to get gorgeous, red carpet worthy waves at home. I explained to the editor, as I had done many times on tv segments, how-to videos, and beauty articles, how you had to hold the curling iron upside down and wrap the hair backwards. She said it was too confusing to write "upside down and backwards" and sounded difficult to do on your own hair. So when we hung up, I sat down and drew out the idea to have an iron that could be held upright, allowing you to curl both sides of your hair seamlessly with the push of a button. I saw a need for a curling iron that all women could use on themselves; one that would give incredible results without a hairdresser.
The Beachwaver is a rotating curling iron that you hold upright. It rotates in both directions and you control it with the touch of a button! All you have to do is clamp the hair, tap the arrow away from the face, hold the barrel for 3-4 seconds and release straight down for a perfect wave. It also has 350 custom parts and 3 computer boards, which control features like the digital temperature setting, dual rotation, and heat up and rotation speed allowing for more customized use.
AM: With the holidays coming up, what are items from your line that we should make sure we’re gifting to others or snagging for ourselves?
SP: We recently launched our Beachwaver S Series in a Dual Voltage model; this is a perfect holiday gift as it has the same user-friendly functions but is compatible internationally so it can travel with you anywhere! Its ceramic, rotating barrel provides easy, quality waves in minutes! The new launches from our new Beachwaver Co. Collection are must-haves as well – Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray to create a protective barrier while heatstyling and Second Chance Dry Shampoo to revive your hair and restore fullness. The holidays are a busy time so all these products combined will make sure your hair can withstand 2nd or even 3rd day hair, and make touch-ups super easy and quick.
AM: Tell us about your sponsorship of the World Surf’s League Maui Women’s Pro Championship – how did it come about, what will you be doing in this partnership and how synergistic is this with your brand?
SP: The Beachwaver Co. is thrilled to be partnered with the WSL as title sponsor of the first-ever Beachwaver Maui Pro. This partnership extends beyond a shared love of beautiful beaches and perfect waves. We are proud to partner with such strong athletes and role models and I am so excited to work with these incredible women, with equally incredible stories, who are inspirations to people around the world, and who inspire us, too. Our brand shares so many of the same philosophies as the WSL, between innovation, women’s empowerment, inspiration, and especially the fact that they just announced equal pay for all athletes – so amazing! We are the brand known for creating gorgeous beachy waves so it just made sense to partner up with the WSL and these phenomenal athletes and bring our fans and audience along to Maui as we chase the perfect wave together!
AM: With the holidays coming up, we all love doing something fun with our hair. What would you suggest as an easy quick do and let us know the tools of the trade that we need to get to do it.
SP: I love this Double Half-Up with Braids and Beachwaves using the Beachwaver and these super cute accessories we just launched. This is a really fun and festive look to try for the holidays!
Step 1. Prep the hair using The Beachwaver Co. Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray. Section off the top half of your hair and divide into two equal parts. Pull each section into a high ponytail and secure with an elastic.
Step 2. Using The Beachwaver Co. Half Up, create two topknots by pulling each ponytail through the Half Up and slide it towards the ends. Roll the Half-Up down towards the base and bend each side under. Create two 3-strand braids under each topknot and secure the ends with an elastic. Take two of The Beachwaver Co. Velvet Bows and clip directly underneath each topknot.
Step 3. Curl using The Beachwaver S1.25, rotating the hair away from the face and finish with The Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray for additional lightweight hold.
AM: Are there new products that you are releasing next year that we should keep an eye out for?
SP: Yes! Creating innovation in product development is a huge passion for us as a brand. With the success of the patented Beachwaver® Tools, our fans were constantly asking for products to pair with their Beachwaver or Coast Pro styling iron! As a women owned company, we wanted to create a vegan, cruelty-free line that was free of negative energy and we have spent over 2 years creating innovative formulas with strengthening benefits, as well as styling. The Beachwaver Co. Collection products are free of parabens, formaldehyde, sulfates, mineral oil, benzophenone, and phthalates, and that’s something my sisters and I are so proud of. We worked closely together on this for years and felt that we had a responsibility to future generations to create products that are not only good for humans, but also for the environment. Great Barrier Heat Protectant Hairspray and Second Chance Dry Shampoo are available now on Beachwaver.com and more will be launching in early 2019 so keep your eyes peeled on Instagram @sarahpotempa and @thebeachwaver!
AM: How are you spending the holiday this year?
SP: With my family!
AM: How do you take time for yourself to ensure that you have appropriate downtime?
SP: One of my favorite ways to unwind in my downtime is with Green tea, a piece of dark chocolate, listening to the Avett Brothers on our record player and sitting by the fire! I also have two kids and a huge 125 lb. Alaskan Malamute puppy!! On our days off, we love to go to the dog park, cook brunch, and go on a bike ride through the forest preserve by our house! To really unwind and relax, I go to hot yoga with my sister and get a good iced coffee cold brew after!
ATHLEISURE MAG: We had the chance to talk to Australian 6X world surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore briefly about her win. Since her entry into women's professional surfing in 2007, she has dominated the scene by winning her first world title as a rookie, then 3 consecutive world titles (no other surfer in men's or women's) can claim this accolade! In addition to her 6 ASP World Titles, she has 24 Elite World Tour victories as well!
What does it mean to take this title at the Beachwaver Maui Pro and what is the state of women's surfing now?
STEPHANIE GILMORE: This season has been incredible and to win my 7th WSL Title in Honolua Bay at the Beachwaver Maui Pro was so special. Women's surfing has never been in a better place - the level on the tour just keeps going up and up, the recent prize money equality announcement was groundbreaking and the amazing support of brands like Beachwaver is so important. I can't wait for 2019!

Looking young and amazing is still achievable even after the 60th birthday. This is, however heavily dependent on how best you take care of your body. Keeping your wardrobe up to date with the current fashion trends will be the first step to looking younger. Aging will also be taken care of and inhibited when the best anti-aging products are used. This will leave you looking fabulous and adorable regardless of your age.
One of the most upsetting signs of aging is gray hair. Every time you face the mirror, this will be a constant reminder of your age. Many women have been known to lose their confidence and their great looks when grey hair sets in. This is especially disappointing to career women whose career progression is determined by their looks. Sales personnel and real estate agents are just but a few who can't stand gray hair.
How then do you look young as you age? This article will highlight several tips that will make you look younger, regardless of your age. These tips will be essential, especially to women developing gray hair.
Changing your hair color will make you look youthful. The color will help you cover up any gray hair, thus sustaining that desired look. The color chosen should, however, complements your skin tone. For dark colored hair, a light color will be appropriate. Dark hair casts dark shadows on your face that highlight facial wrinkles. Lightening up this hair will effectively hide these flaws. This will give your face a healthy glow and sufficiently mask your gray hair. Light colors, on the other hand, may promote aging. These should be avoided totally as they may worsen your hair condition.
A bad haircut promotes aging by as much as 10 years. Choosing the wrong hair cut will make you look 50 even if you're in your mid-thirties. Changing your haircut to a new anti-aging hairstyle will shave some years off your looks. Shortening your hair is especially recommended as long hair draws a lot of attention to your face. Keeping it short will, therefore, make you look younger and full of life. When a suitable anti-aging haircut is chosen, your age will easily be forgotten. This is vital in ensuring that you look and feel great about yourself and your age.
Gray hair is inevitable as one gets old. But some women will show signs of gray hair at a very tender age. Holly Moore from SVHairRegeneres.com says that many women start getting gray hair in their thirties. This is often promoted by certain nutritional deficiencies in the body. When these occurrences happen, several gray hair reversal techniques can be used. These techniques are tested and proven to renew your hair by significantly reversing graying. Some of these techniques include the application of hair renewal gels and dietary changes. Applying soft gels to your hair on a regular basis will reverse premature hair graying. Introduction to nutritional supplements will also inhibit this process, thus delaying premature graying of your hair.
Soft hair tends to be coarse as one gets old. Changing your hair color will mask gray hair, but it will still remain coarse. Coarse hair is easily noticeable as it will appear thin and curly. This makes you look aged especially if your hair is thick and straight. Various hair care products will come in handy softening coarse hair. Anti-aging hair care products will ensure thick and robust hair growth. Regular use of these products will counter the effects of aging and you will end up looking as youthful as you desire.
Focusing all your attention on your hair and none to your face is unwise. Old skins may have several blemishes and wrinkles. As these skins do not produce extra shine, it is vital that they are brightened. One of the best ways to protect your skin is to keep it hydrated. When dull and blotchy skin is well hydrated, blemishes and wrinkles are less visible. This makes your skin soft and gentle. Protecting your skin against sun damage is also vital. Harmful UV rays will not only damage the skin, but also promote hair shedding. Applying sunscreen on a regular basis will, therefore, leave you looking way younger than you are.
The above tips will hinder gray hair from making you look older. These will help you maintain your beauty, something that you will always be proud of. Applying these tips will guarantee a younger look even as you get old.

Darren won Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television. The cast has also won Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.
We chatted with Makeup Artist Kindra Mann to walk us through creating his grooming look:
SKIN:
First, she started off by prepping Darren’s skin using the NEW Goddess Cleansing Ritual Dual Cleanser. This two-step miracle spa-in-a-jar duo is perfect for a fresh, perfectly spa-cleansed complexion, and the essential oils help to calm, hydrate and soothe even the most sensitive complexion. She started by massaging Ritual 1, the Radiance Citrus Oil into the complexion to remove any surface impurities, and then I used Ritual 2, the Purifying Bamboo Charcoal pollution solution to adsorb any deeper rooted build-up. This incredible cleanser leaves men’s complexions looking so clean, glowing and refreshed.
Next, she applied the soothing, calming Goddess Skin Clay Mask – the Spanish clays bring down any redness, and the oils instantly moisturize. I followed this with the Revolutionary Instant Magic Facial Dry Sheet Mask for 15 minutes – the bio-mimetic technology delivers the ingredients to the third layer of the epidermis. This mask is a skin savior.
To ensure the skin was properly hydrated and looking it’s best, I applied Charlotte’s Magic Cream. This award-winning, hydrating moisturizer features a uniquely magical blend of oils & actives - a ‘magic 8’ of skin-savior ingredients that includes Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins C & E, BioNymph Peptide, Aloe Vera & Shea Butter - for radiant, healthier-looking skin. Magic Cream is Magic Skin!
Lastly, to help brighten and re-energize the eye area, she used her ring finger to gently apply the Magic Eye Rescue Cream. This incredible gel-cream has stem cell extract that protects and rejuvenates and brightens the eye area!
FACE:
To even out Darren’s complexion and mask any imperfections, she applied Unisex Healthy Glow Hydrating Tint that gives you a healthy, holiday glow in seconds. I followed this with a little Light Wonder Foundation in Shade 5 using the Magic Complexion Brush.
To combat any shine that might come up throughout the night, she used the Powder and Sculpt Brush and applied the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder in Shade 2 along the T-zone, followed by a light dusting of Charlotte’s Genius Magic Powder in Shade 2 all over the face.
BROWS:
Lastly, she applied a little Legendary Brow Gel in Perfect Brow to keep the brows in place and complete the grooming process.

Gemma’s classy up do was created by her hair stylist, Clariss Rubenstein. We found out how you can rock her hairstyle.
“I started Gemma from dry hair. I first sprayed her hair with water to dampen it so that it would absorb product easily and so I could add a bit of volume with a blow dryer. I ran the Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Big Volume Perfectly Full Thickening Cream perfectly through her hair from root to end and brushed through thoroughly.”
“I sectioned the hair and blow dried the roots using a ceramic blow dryer and round brush. Then, I ran a curling iron through her hair to give it a slight bend. Then I brushed it with a round bristle brush.”
“I sprayed a few puffs of Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Big Volume Volumizing Super Powder at the crown and top of her head.”
“Using only my fingers I secured a ponytail at the back of her head. I then split the ponytail in three and did a messy loose braid. Then I secured the braid into a bun with French hair pins and applied the Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Big Volume Thick & Full Hairspray on my hands to add a bit of texture to the hair around the face.
“I gave the overall look a quick spray with the Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Big Volume Thick & Full Hairspray without taking away some of the great wispy pieces that make the hair look perfectly imperfect.”
