We enjoyed talking with 4 X NBA Champion, John Salley, last year and always enjoy when we have the chance to catch up with him again. This month, we talk about gifting for dads and grads, his appearance and commentary on ESPN's The Last Dance and words of advice as we navigate what is going on at this time.
ATHLEISURE MAG: We always love being able to chat with you and love our annual Father’s Day chats while also getting your thoughts on what’s taking place at the moment!
JOHN SALLEY: I love speaking with you and thank you for having me! Hopefully I will speak with you next Father’s Day as well.
AM: It’s a date.
JS: It’s a date ha!
AM: It has been quite a year to say the least, but thankfully, we’re still celebrating and with Father’s Day coming up, what’s on your list this year?
JS: Oh my God do I have some things for you! This is the deal. I have Old Spice, they are coming out first to market with their beard conditioning set! Now you hear a lot from Old Spice talking about how it smells on you, but this – I have been sporting a beard for the last 2.5 years and I have the beard wash, beard conditioner, beard balm and I really love the beard oil as it sits around and it nourishes my beard and gives that glisten. It doesn’t look scruffy, it looks well kept and it looks organized. I love that so I’m going to tell you to get the Old Spice Beard Kit and it’s graduation season. Boys now in high school that have beards – this is going to be a big one for them too. It's not just for the dads but graduating guys as well.
I also have something else with an app that I use and get he family to use, it’s called Slickdeals. They have 12M users on the app and on the site. They vet and vote for different deals so any given time, a new deal will pop up but you know that you’re going to get a really good deal – the best of the best of the deals. They came up with a thing called the Front Page. This way, you can shop with confidence and know that you’re getting the best price. You don’t want to have to buy something and go somewhere else and see it for a less price, it makes you feel bad. You don’t run through that with slick deals. You can also take the knowledge of the community of Slickdeals and through an extension browser on Chrome and Edge, when you shop online as soon as you put the product into the cart, the code goes with it and you don’t have to look around for savings. It pops right in and it’s going to be the best deal that you can possibly get. When you go to checkout with your merchant, all of a sudden, all of the codes are in the place and you will see all of the savings. The best thing about this especially for Father’s Day is the editors over at Slickdeals have curated an unbelievable Father’s Day section so you can go in there to get tips and ideas and the best deals possible.
AM: These are definitely good things to know about especially with the quarantine going on, there are a lot of people sporting those beards!
JS: Oh I know – there is a lot of hair out there and I know! Here in California a lot of barbers and hair salons are still not open.
AM: We have been dying for our sports fix and we were so excited to see you on ESPN’s The Last Dance. How was that to be on the documentary and to provide all your insights into this show that captured everybody?
JS: It was unbelievable. I know that when they told me about it, after I did the interview they said to forget I did the interview because we weren’t allowed to talk about it. When I saw it, I was like, “wow that was a whole year ago.” I think that it was definitely needed during the pandemic because there is nothing on television to watch except for more and more of fear. Just seeing how much my friend Michael Jordan had to go through, I had no idea that he had to go through that much trauma. Having to deal with being a Bull going up against the Detroit Pistons! So I got to see the inside workings of the Chicago Bulls which we had no knowledge of. I think that if we had known that, we would have seen that as a weakness definitely. I think that they did a good job of that!
AM: With the NBA resuming the season partially as well as having the playoffs, are you excited and how do you feel about the format? Who are you cheering on?
JS: I live in Los Angelos now so I’m a LeBron – well I have always been a LeBron fan – never a Cleveland Cavalier fan. So having him wearing the purple and gold, being an established 3 X World Champion – I think it’s really important that he wins Championships here and continue the legacy. With the focus, he has had time off to – no one has had the time to grieve over the passing of Kobe, but we had time off to deal with it and time off for athletes to deal with nagging injuries of their bodies, to rest their bodies – this is the first time that this has ever happened. To be able to rest your body and not have to worry about getting traded. I think that coming back, I’m really going to be watching the Lakers to win a Championship this year!
AM: Same.
We’re huge fans of the Lakers. One of the things that we love about you is that you are such a positive person. Right now, there are so many things going on from the quarantine, protests for #BlackLivesMatter – what is a positive mantra that you are using to continue going forward that we can use in our day to day?
JS: Well I have a lot of friends talking to me – Caucasian friends asking what they can do and asking me if I see it my way and I say, this is the one time to be quiet. Don’t deal out of ego, don’t deal out of entitlement of any sort – literally listen, pay attention to each thing you say and feel. You don’t have to walk on eggshells, but check yourself to find out if you are in the right spot on this world and in the right spot in this life which is what you have to do. I say this all the time. Meditate, breathe, pray and enjoy the life that you have.

With international travel strongly advised against right now, a staycation might be the only option you have if you’re itching to feed your travel bug. It's cheaper, easier to plan, and much safer than international travel, since you don't necessarily have to come into contact with other people. On top of that, it gives you an opportunity to explore some of the amazing spots in the US that you've never been to. But, just because you're traveling domestically, you don't need to skimp on fashion. In fact, since there's a good chance that you may run into people you know, a staycation gives you the perfect opportunity to show that you're still on top of your fashion game. Plus, it will make for great photos to show off on social media. Here's how to dress up for different types of staycation.
Heading to the beach
With beaches across the country opening up, it's a good time to head over to the sunny shores and have a good time. But, before you throw your swimsuit into a bag and head off, keep in mind that beach fashion goes far beyond swimwear. For a fantastic look, you want something comfortable, casual and fun. You can start by picking out a cute bikini set. Then, pair it up with a cover-up that is easy to throw on over your bikini such as a wrap dress, wrap skirt or lounge pant. You also want to have a bag that looks good and is big enough to hold your beach essentials, such as sunscreen or your phone, but not so big that it looks like you're moving into the beach. A pair of sunglasses that looks good on your face and matches your outfit can also add to the look, while protecting your eyes from the glaring summer sun.
Taking a road trip
Road trips are the safest staycation option right now, since they involve the least amount of contact with strangers. But choosing what to wear on one can give you a dilemma. You want to look cute, but comfort should probably be higher on your list of priorities, especially if it's a long road trip. You can start your look with a tank top or fitting tee with a button-down long sleeve shirt on top. The next thing to have on is a pair of comfortable shorts that are not too tight. If you prefer full leg coverage, go with leggings over trousers or jeans, as they will be more comfortable when sitting in a car for hours. For the shoes, you want a cool pair of flats or casual sneakers that would look good on you if you were standing in the middle of Times Square, but can also handle any rough terrains you come across on your way. You can also pack a swimsuit or have it on under your outfit in case you come across a lake or river and you feel like jumping in.
Since your clothes speak for you before you do, make sure that you're always getting the right message across. Whether you are going to a nearby beach or taking a 300-mile road trip across the country, wear something that's comfortable, makes you feel good about yourself, and is sure to turn a few heads.
These eight essential travel items will make your trip home away from home!
Traveling the world will be one of the most rewarding experiences, but knowing what to bring can be a nightmare. These ten essentials for travel will significantly facilitate preparation and travel!
Portable power source
When you are miles away from the nearest power source or can't find the courage to ask the clerk if he has a plug you can use, don't worry! Because you can have your power supply that can charge most of your electrical devices, which makes your life a lot easier.
Wipes
It may sound like the "essential old woman," but carrying a pack of these will slowly make you begin to realize that they were sent by the travel gods to keep you clean.
Flip flops
These beauties are affordable and durable! Although I invest in a good pair of sneakers, flip flops will be your ideal shoes. Easy to use and comfortable, they will be your traveling companion on long journeys. They go with any outfit, and no one will judge you because everyone is wearing them!
Camera and laptop
To make memories is to travel, so don't forget to capture them on a good camera. There is no better experience than looking back at everything you have done and remembering the incredible journey you have had. Laptop is important to play online gaming, and enjoy some 5 deposit bingo https://www.bingosweets.com/best-5-deposit-bingo-sites/. Invest in memory cards to save photos and send them home only for security. Don't forget to have fun on the go!
Global adapter
Not every country may have the same grip as yours, so keep it. So, jumping on the pitch might seem like fun at the time, but that's not the case with a load of compatible grips. With a world travel adapter, wherever you go, you can use your electrical devices without worry. Just check the package; If it fits all the cards in the world, you're good to go.
Earplugs
Earplugs are a staple to block out the snoring, midnight laughter and drunken stumbles you find in your bedroom. With a good pair of earplugs, you will get the beauty sleep you deserve, making your stay much more comfortable instead of the 2 * cockroach-infested place, which is more than likely. They will surely become your favorite travel companion.
Padlock with combination
Okay, so a padlock may seem like common sense, but invest one with a combination. It will be a relief when you don't have to search for the keys and end up asking reception to ask the pliers to open the safe. A combination will make your life much more comfortable and safer, as only you know! If you don't have a safe, you can close your suitcase with it. Safety first!
Sleeping lining
When you stay in hostels, there is always that fear; Have the sheets been washed? Who stayed in bed the last time? With a sleeping coating, these doubts will not enter your mind. It will fit like a sleeping bag which will give you peace of mind, making you feel more at home than in a few weeks. They are light and fold very well into a small ball!

SELLING SUNSET
Netflix
Netflix Originals
Much like wanderlust, we have a thing for watching people sell homes and the teams that work together (sometimes they work against one another). As we continue to stay at home, we're all looking for shows to watch. Selling Sunset takes us to LA and surrounding communities as this small but successful real estate firm makes their sales goals, increases their sales and takes on new opportunities.
We also see how they are managing their personal lives and even pushing themselves in terms of what it means to be in the real estate industry. The cast keeps your attention as well as the eyedropping homes that they share throughout the season. If you've yet to catch the first season, start there and continue onto the second season which launched last month.

Nowadays, a lot of people have been investing in products containing hemp oil as these offer a lot of health benefits. Hemp oil is popular in the beauty industry because it's an excellent skincare ingredient. It can soothe inflammation, leave your skin nourished and moisturized, lessen the signs of aging, and treat skin conditions, such as psoriasis, acne rosacea, eczema, varicose veins, and many more.
Joining the hemp oil trend is not a bad thing to do; however, starting your journey with hemp oil can be confusing. Having said that, below is a discussion on ways you can use hemp oil for maximum benefits.
Apply Topical Hemp Oil On Your Skin
One of the health benefits of hemp oil is improving your skin condition by preventing skin aging and helping in the management of skin issues, like eczema. If you notice dry patches or inflamed areas on your skin, immediately apply a quarter-size amount of hemp oil.
However, if you're afraid to get unwanted reactions after applying the hemp oil, you can patch test it before use. Apply a little amount of hemp oil on a small area of your skin and use a bandage to cover it. If you experience burning, itching, or redness, this could mean that you’re allergic to the oil, so wash the area instantly. On the other hand, if there are no allergic responses, it should be safe for you to use it.
You can also try to mix other anti-inflammatory oils with hemp oil to add potency.
Take Hemp Oil Orally
Another way to use hemp oil is by ingesting it. You don't have to worry about its efficacy because this method still gives the same benefits as when you're applying it onto your skin. Oral use of hemp oil can also prevent skin reactions, but it can cause digestive problems, which may only last for a short while.
There are two ways you can use hemp oil orally: through tinctures and concentrates.
· Tincture: Hemp oil tinctures are more well-known than hemp concentrates because these usually contain natural ingredients and essential oils aside from the hemp. A hemp oil tincture is usually sold in a glass bottle with a dropper so the product can be dispensed easily.
· Concentrate: Unlike tinctures, hemp concentrates don't have any additional ingredients as these are extracted directly from the hemp seeds. Pure hemp oil concentrates are paste-like or runny oils that come in syringe packaging.
To use the tincture, dispense the hemp oil through the dropper under your tongue. On the contrary, use the syringe to dispense the pure hemp oil concentrate on your finger, spoon, or under your tongue.
Dispensing the hemp oil underneath your tongue is necessary because of the capillary glands that absorb the oil quickly. Aside from that, you don't have to waste the potency of the product as using it orally can help you receive a significant amount of hemp.
Furthermore, keep in mind that hemp oil can taste like dirt or grass, especially if you prefer concentrates. Thus, you can chug some juice to remove the nasty aftertaste.
Incorporate Hemp Oil Into Your Skincare
Known to reduce inflammation of the skin, hemp oil can be safely incorporated into your skincare routine. If you're afraid to use pure hemp oil directly on your face, you can try to use skincare products containing hemp oil.
Whether you have dry, oily, combination, sensitive, or normal skin, hemp oil will work for you. It moisturizes your skin without clogging your pores. Moreover, it has anti-aging properties that can lessen the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that can treat acne, as well as promote new cell production and skin growth.
Cook Dishes With Hemp Oil
Because hemp oil has a slightly nutty taste, it can be an excellent addition to your favorite recipes. Aside from that, it’s rich in omega-3 that can benefit your brain and heart, as well as improve your immune and circulatory systems.
Here are some recipes to which you can incorporate hemp oil:
· Roast Potato
· Quinoa Bowl
· Soup
· Roast Vegetable
· Pesto
· Granola
· Hummus
· Sandwich Spread
· Smoothie
Use Hemp-Oil-Infused Products On Your Hair
If you're suffering from hair damage and you want to revive the beauty of your locks, or you want to achieve soft and healthy hair, using hemp oil can help you achieve your goal. Aside from keeping your skin in good condition, it also has beneficial effects for your hair.
If you're living in a tropical country and you wash your hair frequently, chances are your hair will lose its moisture, which maintains its good condition. Once you use hemp oil, water can be efficiently absorbed by your hair follicles and scalp, thus keeping your hair hydrated. It also contains vitamin E to make your hair softer and hydrate your scalp more.
Rich in omega-3 and omega-6, hemp oil can prevent hair loss and boost hair growth, that's why people are purchasing hair products with hemp oil as an ingredient. Additionally, hemp oil can strengthen your scalp and prevent hair conditions, such as dandruff.
Smoke Hemp Oil
Vaping is one of the most known methods to use hemp oil because it can deliver the hemp faster into your system than other ways. By smoking hemp, almost 56% of the product will directly enter your bloodstream, and you'll feel the effects in less than 10 minutes.
When vaping hemp oil, the first thing you have to do is to choose the device you'll use. You can choose among refillable vapes, disposable vape pens, table-top vaporizers, or pre-filled vape pens. For beginners, it's advisable to use a simple equipment, such as a pre-filled pen.
Next, you have to understand the manual that comes with the device to know how you can use it safely. If you're opting for a refillable vaporizer, you need to use the hemp oil to fill the tank. For disposable or pre-filled pens, you can use them right away.
The next step is to experiment. Know the exact amount of hemp oil you need by starting with a small dosage and gradually increasing it. Also, it’s better to opt for hemp oil with a mix of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin to ensure that it will work with a vapor device.
Once you're done vaping, ensure that you clean the vaporizer to remove any trace of flavor and keep the device in good condition for a longer period of time.
Conclusion
There's no doubt that hemp oil promotes better heart health, glowing skin, and healthier hair. By following any of the methods discussed above, you can ensure that you'll get hemp oil’s maximum benefits and, in turn, achieve better overall well-being.
As businesses continue to navigate quarantine as well as capacity based on what phase your city is in, many have focused on streaming to provide fitness services. Fhitting Room Live is an extension of their studios that are located in Flatiron, UES and UWS. A number of professional athletes from the NBA, NFL and Olympics train there. Trainers' backgrounds include professional athletes as well as dancers.
Each class has a format known as FHIX (functional high-intensity mix). You'll find that you will do something different every time. This circuit-based class is similar to what you would do in the gym; however, the difference is the music as well as the instructors that bring their hype into the routines.
This HIIT workout holds classes live online 7 days a week via Zoom and are $20/class. Guests are able to workout virtually with their trainers and are able to interact with them as well as other attendees. Only 24 people can access each session which runs for 35 mins.
This workout is known to be tough. Pre-COVID-19, attendees could focus on their individual goals while also having a sense of camaraderie by the class as a whole as you can see everyone pushing through together. Even in this streamed version, this same feeling is available due to small class sizes and the use of Zoom.
When prepping for this workout via Fhitting Room Live, there is no equipment needed for body-weight-only classes. For those that do have equipment as an option, it is suggested that you have a kettlebell or set of dumbbells nearby. Make sure to checkout their Instagram to stay in the loop on themed workouts, engagement from the team as well as additional updates as we continue to navigate the current times of quarantine as well as openings as we continue through phase levels.

It’s fair to say that we’ve gone through a bit of a shakeup in the sporting world in recent months. To state the obvious, coronavirus has caused havoc in sports all around the world. With such dark times looming around so many nations of the world, however, we figured it was time to focus on some of the positives in the sporting world. Specifically, we thought we’d take the time to highlight some of the most exciting young athletes that are filling sports fans with joy in recent years.
Whether you enjoy betting on these players, watching them in action, or simply following their success stories, we are sure you will enjoy the information contained within the categories below.
CoCo Gauff shot to fame at Wimbledon in 2019, when she managed to overcome the previous champion, Venus Williams, by a score of 6-4 6-4. She showed the world that she is a player to be taken seriously, and she managed to achieve such a feat at just 15 years old. This makes her the youngest female player in almost 20 years to make it through the first round in the ladies championships. Ironically, it was Venus Williams’ sister Serena who first inspired Gauff to start playing tennis.
Gauff wasn’t done there, however, for she progressed to the fourth round at Wimbledon, and then replicated this performance at the US Open. In 2020 she reached the fourth round of the Australian Open tournament, losing to Sofia Kenin who went on to win the event. After her performance at the Australian Open, she's already referred to as a new legend. We have a feeling that CoCo will be putting schoolwork on the back burner this year as she concentrates on her tennis, and we can’t wait to watch how she develops over the next few years.
She is now 16 years old and has a net worth of $500,000 - not bad for someone who is only just old enough to drive in the USA!
It’s about time a young Brazilain footballer started to emerge through the ranks. Rodrygo is currently just 19 years old, and he is already impressing the managers at the famous Real Madrid club. He made the move to Real Madrid back in 2019 for a cool €45 million, which was pretty large for a player who is still a teenager. He plays on the wing for Madrid right now, and he is quick, skillful, and cool under pressure.
These traits caught the attention of the Brazilian national squad too, and Rodrygo made his debut for them at just 18 years old. Coming back to his domestic career, when he was called up to play for Real Madrid in the first team, he scored his debut goal within one minute. Since then he has also gone on to put in stellar performances in the Champions League, so we are excited about this guy right now!
Simone Biles is just an absolute superstar - no questions asked. She made her mark on the world back in the Rio Olympics in 2016, with an incredible 4 gold medals and 1 bronze. All of this was achieved when she was just 19 years old too, which is even more impressive. For those who thought that this was just a fluke or a one-off, Biles went on to claim 5 gold medals during the World Championships in 2019.
She is understandably one of the very best athletes to emerge from the USA in recent years, and her global performances will no doubt get better and better as time goes on. It would have been fantastic to watch her in action at the 2020 Olympics, but unfortunately, with global events, we will need to wait until 2021 to see her perform on such a stage.
Sport is slowly but surely returning to our screens, and indeed to our world. We truly hope that these three superstars are staying fit and healthy during this downtime, and we feel that they will come back hungrier than ever for success. This hunger will no doubt drive even more impressive performances from all of them, although we have a feeling that we won’t truly see them all back in full flow until 2021.
One thing is certain, however, we will be tuning in for when they are back in action.
Maple Leaf Farms, Inc. has been a leading provider of premium Duck products throughout the world since 1958. Family-owned and family farmed raised, their ducks are all natural and humanely raised in a free to roam environment. They are fully integrated throughout every step of the process, making the quality of the utmost standards. Their commitment to animal care and top quality products has set them apart as one of the most recognized and well respected duck brands.
Available online, their assortment is selected with the customer in mind. This year, they're focusing on the healthier side of duck and have created a skinless duck breast (4 oz. is only 110 calories and 2 g in fat - making it healthier than the average chicken breast), low fat duck brat (60% less fat and 40% less calories than pork brats) and a low fat duck bacon (57% less fat than pork bacon). Duck is a great alternative protein because it's lean & delicious. Duck is also rich in monounsaturated fat, so the fat that you are eating is very similar to the nutritional content of olive oil.
Maple Leaf Farms raises white pekin ducks whose flavor is a milder, slightly sweet taste and the meat is really tender. Essentially you get the taste and feel of a steak with a duck breast, but you get the nutrition of the poultry side. Some describe it as a perfect tossup between steak and chicken. Duck is high in iron, so that results in a red meat taste. Duck is also great on the grill and can be cooked in pretty much any way a steak or chicken breast would be as well.
When cooking with duck, there are a lot of flavor pairings with rotisserie rubs, garlic rubs, and it really pairs well with most spices. Traditionally duck is frequently paired with orange sauce, hoisin sauce or sometimes a berry sauce like cherry or raspberry.
It's also recommend to drink a Pinot Noir with duck since it has a mild tender flavor. A medium bodied red is the best to pair since it borders the line in taste between chicken and steak.
Maple Leaf Farms has been working with a variety of restaurants throughout the nation to help serve meals to frontline healthcare workers and furloughed restaurant employees. Due to COVID-19, they had a large spike in online sales, so they started developing kits. They currently have a Duck Grill Kit which includes: 32 duck brats, 4 lbs. of ground duck, 8 skinless duck breasts, a recipe guide, and an exclusive independence day themed “FireQuacker” apron. They wanted to focus on duck items best for the summer since most people think of duck as a fall or winter dish. 3rd and 4th generation owners Olivia and her father, John T., have been running a recipe video series on their Facebook to talk about the kit as well as showing how easy it is to make these items for a great summer family meal. Another kit may be available around Labor Day.

There are tons of health benefits that come along with breathing in fresh air. Fresh air can help to clean out your lungs, provide you with an energy boost, lower your blood pressure, improve your mood, and help you in lots of other ways.
If the coronavirus pandemic has prevented you from getting much fresh air lately, do something about it. There are plenty of outdoor recreation ideas you can put to the test this summer to get the fresh air that you need.
Want to see some of the outdoor activities that you can take part in this summer to ensure you're able to take in as much fresh air as you want? Continue reading to see some of the best outdoor recreation ideas around.
Hiking
If you want to get fresh air, you can do it by going for a walk around your neighborhood. But unfortunately, that air isn't always going to be as crisp and clean as it could be.
If you want to give yourself access to the cleanest air possible, going for a hike on a nature trail is definitely the way to go. You can lose yourself out in nature for an afternoon and reap the rewards from it when you do.
Trying to track down the right trail to go hiking on? The National Trails System consists of almost 200,000 miles worth of trails located on federal lands and more than 40,000 miles worth of trails located on state lands.
There are sure to be at least a few great hiking trails in your general area. Pack up some basic hiking gear and take one of them on to get all the fresh air you could ever possibly want.
Mountain Biking
If you don't own a bike, mountain biking might not be an option for you right now. The coronavirus pandemic created a huge spike in bicycle sales in recent months, and it has made it almost impossible for people to get their hands on bikes at this time.
But if you're lucky enough to already have a bike, mountain biking might prove to be a great alternative to hiking. You can explore a lot of the same nature trails that you would on two feet on two wheels and cover more ground in the process.
It's a good idea to come up with a plan as far as where you're going to go on your bike if you decide to give mountain biking a try. You can travel a lot further than you might think on a bike, which might open up opportunities to see things in your area that you've never been able to see before.
Just make sure you're prepared to get a good workout in. Riding a mountain bike can be more difficult than it looks if you haven't ridden around on one in a while now.
Kayaking
Hiking and mountain biking are both really fun outdoor recreation activities. But if you do them during the dog days of summer, you're going to work up quite a sweat. It might actually be too much for some people to take.
If you're concerned about sweating too much while hiking or mountain biking, might we suggest kayaking instead? Kayaking will put you out on the water where you'll be able to soak up some sun while also providing yourself with plenty of water to keep yourself cool.
There are so many places throughout the U.S. where people love to go kayaking. Some of the best kayaking destinations include:
Chesapeake Bay
Colorado River
Tampa Bay
Prince William Sound
Mulberry River
You're also more than welcome to keep your kayak a little closer to home if you want. All you need is a small river or lake to go on a kayaking adventure.
Hunting
Most people automatically associate hunting with the fall and winter months. They think about hunters going out to hunt for deer under the cloak of darkness on cold fall and winter mornings.
But it's worth noting that there are lots of hunting opportunities for those who don't want to get stuck on the sidelines in the summertime as far as hunting is concerned. You can hunt for everything from wild hogs to pronghorn antelope depending on where you live or where you're willing to travel.
If you decide to go in this direction, it's smart to stock up on the right hunting gear. You might not need to bundle up when you go hunting in the summer, but you should have things like the best 2020 hunting binoculars on you at all times.
Fishing
In recent years, there have been a lot more people fishing than in years past. Almost 50 million people have been going fishing at least once each year, which is up dramatically from a decade ago.
And that number is likely going to grow to be even higher in 2020. With people dying to get outside and enjoy the fresh air, many of them are making fishing their preferred outdoor recreation activity.
Would you like to join them? To do it, you should make sure that you have:
A valid fishing license for your specific state
A fishing rod and a reel to go along with it
Heavy-duty fishing line
Various fishing hooks, weights, bobbers, and lures
Bait
There are few things as enjoyable as spending a long day out on a lake or by a lake fishing. It'll give you time to unwind while hopefully snagging a few fish to take home.
Bird Watching
When you step outside of your home every day, you're likely surrounded by birds. It's why it's so easy for some people to take birds for granted.
But birds are magical creatures that come in so many different shapes and sizes. There are well over 1,000 bird species in the U.S. alone at this time.
You should get out there and try to see as many of them as you can in your area. Every year, about 45 million people make it their mission to go on bird-watching expeditions.
You might even want to invest in a high-quality camera that'll allow you to take photos of all the birds that you see. You'll find that you feel at peace when you're out in nature looking for birds and watching them fly around.
Rock Climbing
Are you a thrill-seeker? Then doing something like fishing, bird watching, or even hiking is probably not going to get your adrenaline going enough. You need something more intense than those things to get you out of bed in the morning!
To which we say: How about rock climbing? Of all the outdoor activities listed here, rock climbing is easily the most intense. You'll be able to get your blood pumping by conquering the best rock climbing locations in your area.
Rock climbing is also one of the best all-around exercises that you can do. You're going to target almost every single muscle in your body at some point when you're rock climbing.
Relaxing at the Beach
Almost all of the outdoor recreation activities on this list are going to call for you to put in your fair share of effort while participating in them. Even something like fishing will require you to move around and tire you out.
If you don't have the energy right now to take part in these outdoor activities, something as simple as going to the beach might be your best bet. You can sit on the beach for a few hours and let all your troubles melt away while you're doing it.
There are, unfortunately, some beaches in places like California that have closed down during the coronavirus pandemic. You want to steer clear of these beaches to stay within the limits of the law.
But as long as there are beaches in your area that are open, you should take advantage of them and all that they can provide. Going to the beach can set you up with tons of benefits like:
Reduced stress
Increased vitamin D levels
Improved sleep later on
It can also give you a place to gather with family members and friends. A day of fun in the sun might be just what you all need right now.

Fitness is a lifestyle, not just a hobby. Those of us who want to stay in shape know that this statement is more than just a simple cliche. However, there are times when you want to take a break and relax. Or maybe you can’t do any sports because of medical problems. In any case, we’ve looked at some of the top hobbies that fitness people enjoy in their spare time.
Chess
Your mind is just as important as your body. And chess is one of the best ways to train it. This tactical game dates back a couple of centuries and renowned players have rightfully garnered respect from everyone. If you don’t have time to meet face to face with other people to play this game, there are numerous online versions that you can try.
Fishing
Fishing isn’t just relaxing, but also useful. Depending on where you live, you might need a permit, but it’s usually worth it. This hobby can feed your family, and it also gives you an excuse to stay more outside when you find your house to be just a little too boring or too loud. As far as fishing equipment goes, some of the best gear can be found on www.fisherpants.com.
Go to a book club
Reading books is another fun hobby that we recommend to get your mind off other things. But if you want to make the hobby even more rewarding, you should join a book club. Socializing with like-minded people who enjoy the same literature as you is quite rewarding. Who knows? Maybe you might also find a fitness partner while you’re at it.
Volunteering
The world might seem sad sometimes, and there are many causes that we can fight for. Try some volunteering to support your favorite cause or help out others in need. While you gain nothing financially, you will feel a lot better about yourself in the long run. Those who practice what they preach feel more rewarded than those who don’t.
Photography
Wanna take better selfies of your beautiful body? Why not learn some photography? You can even earn some extra money by learning this skill. If you get really serious into this business, you can even get into the fitness niche, and you might land a secondary job at one of the highly respected fitness magazines out there *wink wink*.
Gaming
It might seem counterintuitive, but gaming is great for your mind and you can even make some new friends while you’re at it. You can find a wide variety of games for all tastes and preferences. Some of them are more story-based, like Detroit: Become Human, others are more action-oriented or focus on stealth elements like the Hitman series.
Learn a foreign language
Ever dreamed of traveling to another country? Why not start learning their language? You’ll have an easier time interacting with the locals, and you’ll be able to go on your own without a tour guide for the most part. Best of all, you’ll be able to make friends from other countries that don’t speak English all that well.
Write a book or a diary
Writing is the simplest form to express your creativity and allow your emotions out without having to speak to other people. If you’re more of an introverted type, it might even help you develop communication skills. You can use services like Wattpad or anonymous forums to let others review your writing and give you critical feedback.
Final thoughts
Do you have any other hobbies that fitness enthusiasts might enjoy? Leave us a comment down below and share your thoughts with us.
Traveling has become more and more accessible in the last years, yet some people might still find it a bit expensive to visit new places. Since there are so many benefits associated with traveling, making it a part of your hobbies is a form of respect you pay to your mind and body.
A few inspired tips can help you improve various aspects of your life. From tips to better a senior’s life, such as the ones at Caregiving Mag, to tips on how to improve productivity, the internet is rich in such useful ideas, and it does not run short when it comes to traveling either. Here are a few things you might want to consider to make sure you see more with less money.
Book early
Booking ahead is probably one of the best ways to make sure you don’t spend a fortune on flights and hotels. Even if you can sometimes find last-minute deals that can enable you to visit a new place with minimum expenses, it is best not to rely solely on such options, given that there’s no certainty that there will be such deals.
Therefore, when you have a specific place in mind and your holiday time scheduled already if you book early, you are likely to get the chance to book a flight or a hotel that would otherwise cost more. For example, if you don’t find last-minute deals, yet you want to book a hotel room just a few days before your holiday, chances are that you will pay more.
Keep tabs on travel deals
If your travel budget is not very generous, yet you still want to take some time off and visit a new place, you can also keep eyes on travel deals. Thankfully, there are many trusted websites that offer noteworthy deals on flights, cruises, vacation packages, and hotels.
By checking such websites or using travel apps, you can get considerable price drops and cater to your needs while staying within the budget you have at disposal.
Travel with other people
One of the best ways to feed your interest in traveling without spending much is to get your friends or family members with you and thus share the expenses. Sharing a room with another person will enable you to save and use the money to pay for other travel-related services. Not to mention that if something bad happens, there will be somebody there to help you.
However, if you’re more of a solo traveler but you don’t mind sharing a room with other people, hostels are worth trying. You won’t just save, but you will also have the chance to meet people from various other places and exchange knowledge and experience.
When you only have a few days at disposal to get out of your town or country and a limited budget, another good option is camping. Once you know your destination, look for camping sites. Some such places are so affordable that you can station for longer and still stick to your budget.
Aside from the above-mentioned tips, there are also other small things you should pay attention to if you want to keep your travel expenses as low as possible. For example, try not to surrender to the temptation of buying all sorts of souvenirs that would later prove not to serve your needs.
Yes, souvenirs are an important part of traveling since they will bring back bits of your experience whenever you see those items, but if you want to stick to your initial budget plan, it is best to have a clear list of ‘yes’ and ‘no’.
Planning your budget ahead is of great importance, and, to avoid unpleasant situations, you might want to allot a certain amount of money for unscheduled expenses from the very beginning.
