We’re back with Zach Shallcross for tonight’s latest episode of ABC’s The Bachelor. Jesse Palmer tells the women that there won’t be a date and that they will make their way to the Bahamas where their journeys will continue. The date card arrives and Katherine is given a 1-on-1 date.
Katherine and Zach head out for their date on a boat to get to know more about one another. They practice safe sun, awkwardly date and continue to dig deeper to know more about one another.
Back at the Baha Mar, the rest of the women are talking about where they are in relation to others and trying to see how to navigate the week as there is still another 1-on-1 as well as a group date.
The next date card arrives and Aly, Kaity, Ariel, Davia, Genevie, Anastasia, Kylee, Mercedes, Charity, Gabi, Jess and Greer will be on a date that involves heat. Brooklyn will be on the 1-on-1 date.
At Zach and Kat’s date night, she lets him know that the family dynamics that she comes from is not the same as his. She lets him know that the relationship between her and her mom wasn’t great for a period of time and she didn’t live at home. After their heart-to-heart, Zach gives her the date night rose and she accepts.
The women back at the suite see the fireworks that are set off and they know that she had a great date and will be coming back.
The group date gets underway and Zach lets them know that they will be eating and drinking and relaxing a bit. In the group settings, Zach tends to interact with each person and the women agreed that they would all give each other time. When Anastasia says that she wants to talk with Zach the women feel like she overstepped. When Kylee approached her comment of wanting to steal Zach and not wanting to “fight her over it,” is blown out of proportion as Anastasia tells all the women that Kylee wants to fight her. Most of the women understand what was said and Zach even heard Kylee say it in real time - how this will resolve itself will definitely come up at the cocktail party for the group date.
Although he spends time with each one, he finds out that Anastasia may be there for the wrong reason as she has been overheard saying that she is there to increase her Instagram followers. Zach gets the information, talks with those that heard and then brings it up to her. He lets her know that he will need to think about it and will get back to her. When she comes back to the women, Kylee says she wants to talk about the elephant in the room and she wanted to make sure she was honest that although she didn’t hear it, she was told about it. Anastasia says that those words were taken out of context (meanwhile, she has no problem taking words out of context in terms of Kylee).
He gives the group date rose to Ariel and Anastasia continues to cry and be shocked.
Brooklyn finally goes on her 1-on-1 date. We’ve grown to like Brooklyn as she always lets people know what she’s thinking and on her watch, she won’t allow someone to walk over others. Zach is excited and notes that he realizes that she still comes off as slightly anxious.
Back at the resort, we hear the women talking and of course they’re talking about the drama about IG followers and Anastasia.
Brooklyn and Zach ride ATVs as well as hang out on a secluded beach. He lets us know that he is intrigued by her, but she will need to open up and he wants to peel back more layers so that he can see if there is something that is really there. Hopefully, she does as we love what Brooklyn has brought to this season so far as she’s authentic, genuine and down to Earth.
With the disclaimer that kicks off this segment of the episode, we know that Brooklyn is going to share something traumatic. She shares her experiences with domestic violence and Zach feels upset that this happened. Brooklyn is happy that she shared this with him and says that she is ready to have love for someone that deserves it and will give it back. He gives her a rose. As they connect, they are serenaded as they dance the night away.
The rose ceremony is taking place and everyone is getting ready. There are a few women at the group date who didn’t get a chance to talk with him, so people are preparing to take that time. Zach arrives to see all of the women and to kick off the cocktail party so that last conversations can be had. He lets them know that he likes honesty and vulnerability. He shares that he is going to follow his heart in all of the things that he does. He pulls Anastasia aside so that they can talk. He asks her what she’s feeling as he knows it was a tough conversation. We don’t hear him say the words but we see as he escorts her out and we now know that she is not going forward.
Zach comes back and lets the women know what happened. Kylee cries about what happened; however, if you started a series of activities which caused someone to go home, you do need to take ownership and continue as the fact that you shared it, you know that that could be a possibility. Zach is definitely about being drama free and reducing that for the women as well. It’s obvious that he has shown this over the past few weeks.
Kylee wanted to chat with him to talk about big issues, but right when she did, Jesse let them know that it was time for the rose ceremony. Kylee says she wants to go home as she can’t stand up there and not hear her name called. Her friend tells her that you at least have to wait to hear what happens before making a decision as calling someone else out doesn’t mean that she will be punished for it and sent home.
The rose ceremony begins.
ZACH GIVES ROSES TO | Aly, Ariel, Brooklyn, Charity, Gabi, Greer, Jess, Kaity, Kat, Kylee, Mercedes
ZACH DOESN’T GIVE A ROSE TO | Anastasia, Davia, Genevie

A LEGACY MANIFESTED | ADAM BLACKSTONE
When we watch our favorite performances, there are so many people involved that make these shows come together. The Music Director has a birds eye view and is integral in making sure the components come together, keeping all the teams in lockstep with one another and being able to translate the artist's vision to what we see.
When you have a MD that is also musician and can play across genres, you really have someone that is multi-talented! We caught up with Adam Blackstone a bassist who has performed with Jay-Z, Dave Chapelle's Block Party, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and so much more. He has also been the MD for a number of the entertainers above including Nicki Minaj and Rihanna - sometimes playing with these artists and more. In addition, this man has been the MD behind the historic Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and Eminem and will be back again when for the Apple Music Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show with Rihanna hits the stage for this moment of sports meets music. In this position, he has helmed the OSCARS, NBA All Star Weekend, The Masked Singer and more.
In addiiton to being in the industry for decades with a coveted list of talent that he has worked with, he just released his debut album Legacy last fall and his single 'Round Midnight’ with Jazmin Sullivan has been nominated for a GRAMMY which takes place next month! To ensure that he can continue to grow his brand and fingerprint on the industry, he also talks about how he supplies an array of talent from musicians, engineers and background singers to our favorite artists through BASSic Black Entertainment.
With some busy days ahead, we wanted to find out about how he found his way into the music industry, his love for bass, being a musician as well as a MD and what he has coming up.
ATHLEISURE MAG: What was the moment when you fell in love with music?
ADAM BLACKSTONE: That’s a great question! I think from birth! With my family, I was always surrounded by music, my father is a musician. What we would call today, probably a wedding band singer, but he did weddings, bat mitzvahs, church services, banquets, and all of that. Then, growing up in Black church, my mom and my family was heavy into choir and music ministry. I think that early early African American church experience allowed me to see the power that the music played in the emotional and psyche of human beings in general. Fast forward to me going to high school and getting some jazz band awards and all of the accolades and the praise and being a little bit turned on by that as well. It made me want to excel and to show Black excellence. Of course, fast forward to really my first major major gig was Jay-Z on stage at Madison Square Garden. There was nothing like that feeling! So those 3 instances for me were very much spread out, but were very much so similar feelings you know?
AM: Yes. What drew you to wanting to play bass?
AB: Funny story, I started as a drummer. I think every little Black boy in church as a musician wants to play drums. When we moved to a suburb in town - Willingboro, NJ, again, the band teacher who was white, I’ll never forget when he said, “listen, I have 14 drummers. I heard about your family, I hear about your musical lineage that you have and our band is missing a bass player.” This was in 2nd grade and he said, “I would love if you would switch over.” I said, “hell naw, I’m not doing that bro!” This was back in the day when you had to walk to school and all of that and I wanted to walk with my drum sticks – I didn’t want to walk with a bass! He talked to my parents and we made the switch and honestly, it was one of the best decisions that I had ever made of course!
So that is what introduced me to bass and that instrument in general allows me to be the foundation and the root of all of the chords that are being played. I learned that a little later on. Drums is the rhythm, but bass is really the melody and it controls the chordal structure. Me being the future MD that I was, I think that I like a little bit of the control!
AM: I like how one decision really made all the difference!
You have worked with so many people from Rihanna, The Roots, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Jay-Z and even across genres.
AB: Yes!
AM: How do you approach when you’re working on these projects as they all have different needs and different focuses in terms of when you’re coming in as the musician role.
AB: I think that the biggest thing is that they allow me to be able to be myself, to be creative, allow me to present them with ideas, but also knowing that I am protecting them. They know that I am taking their vision and just trying to enhance it a little bit. As musical director and crossing genres specifically, it’s not about my vision, it’s about the artists’ vision. We’re all a team. If they win, we win. If they’re hot on stage, if their tour is hot, it allows for more opportunities for me as well! So, I always pride myself on asking the artists what they need, what they want and how I can be a vessel to enhance that vision across genres, that respect is given and so they allow me to, you know, continue to be as successful as I am.
AM: Tell me about your debut album Legacy which came out last fall!
AB: Yessss Legacy, Legacy! It was a labor of love for sure! We all went through that pandemic, and you know, we lost some folks. I lost a couple of good friends of mine, I lost a cousin and going through to their services, I realized that I didn't want to leave this Earth with a laptop full of ideas – you know what I’m saying? I heard Jazzy Jeff say, “leave here empty.” So, I was really inspired by loss and I buckled down for about 40 - 45 days and returned to my roots and one of my first loves is jazz and really progressive jazz. I decided what songs I wanted to do and really saw which artists were being impacted by me for a long time and how they wanted to pay it back to me by hopping on my album. Everybody from Kirk Franklin to Mary Mary to Jazmine Sullivan to Jill Scott to Queen Latifah. The list goes on and on! I made that one phone call and they said, “absolutely, whatever you need,” because they know for the last 20 years, I have answered their phone calls and said the same thing. You know what I mean? It’s what I like to call, Relationship Equity! It’s been really cool. We went Billboard #1 on Legacy, the single got a GRAMMY nomination, we are Image Award nominee now for 2023 and going on tour opening for Jill Scott this spring. I’m very excited about that that Legacy continues to hopefully impact people and to become part of their legacy as well. I really did it to inspire.
AM: That is amazing and I really love when you are talking about Relationship Equity, as I have definitely dipped into that pool many times and let them know that for the times I reached back, I needed it for what I was working on.
AB: Even with that, to the right person, you don’t even have to say that because they know what you’ve done and the value that you have added to their legacy, you know what I’m saying? I’m very grateful for God giving me the foresight 20 years ago, didn’t know I would be here doing a record. I was nice to people, I was a good character person, I had integrity and so now when I make these calls, it’s been no issues. I’m super thankful for that!
AM: So are you thinking about your next album?
AB: Legacy 2, I’m definitely thinking about it for sure!
AM: In addition to being an artist and a musician, you’re a noted Music Director. Can you tell us what a Music Director does?
AB: No problem. As an MD, my job is to curate everything live music oriented from stage, to lighting, to choreography, to programming – basically build that live experience for the viewer. So it starts by me sitting with the artist and seeing what story that they want to tell through their set list. Sometimes we have 2 hours and then for things like the Super Bowl, we have 13 minutes, you know what I mean? From there, I do a lot of hiring of the band, backgrounds, engineers and then I rehearse the band and then it’s everything from me going to choreo rehearsal, lighting rehearsal to make sure that their cues line up with the music cues. So that gives that total overall experience and that’s essentially what a music director does from arranging, to scoring to creative on the stage.
AM: When you’re doing that, is it hard for you to wear two hats when you’re actually playing as well as being the Music Director?
AB: That’s a great question. I have to be honest and say, that it’s easier for me to be able to do the two hats because I speak through my instrument. That allows me to have a little bit more of a fluent language if we use that analogy, because I can get the ideas out while playing. Sometimes, if I’m just coming in to oversee and there is another band like Maroon 5 or something like that - when I do Tim McGraw, he has his own band, it’s like I have to adapt to their language. Either way it’s cool, but I have to say that the two hats actually because of my musicianship and I’m thankful for that, it lets the MD job be a little easier for me!
AM: It’s amazing to think about the fact that you were saying that whether someone is going on a tour, last year’s halftime show for the Super Bowl and you were also involved with The Masked Singer as well which is a TV show. That’s a lot of hats to juggle, so how do you say, ok if this is a tour – it’s this way and a TV show is another way and then when you’re doing the halftime show which was ridiculous –
AB: Thank you so much!
AM: We just watched the documentary, The Show: California Love, so being able to see the behind-the-scenes as someone who is a fashion stylist and the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Athleisure Mag, I have such an appreciation for how all of those things come together and it’s nice to see how that all took place.
AB: I think that the biggest difference is trusting myself and trusting the process. When it comes to the creative, I started as a touring guy so a lot of times, the touring aspect comes a little easier to me and I’m a fan of music. So I know what the viewer wants to see/hear. When it comes to the television show whether it’s The Masked Singer, The Four, BET Awards, The Voice – things like that, we’re making television so how do we want to sustain people’s interest by watching the show? How we do that is by making very impactful moments happen in a very short period of time. That’s different then the tour, because you want to elongate the moment so that you can stretch out people’s attention span – you get what I’m saying? It’s a different hat to wear, but at the end of the day, it’s about entertainment and I am happy to be a true entertainer in the sense of the musicianship of it.
AM: This year, you’re going to be back at it again with Rihanna’s halftime show for the Super Bowl. What can you tell us about this show and anything that you can share as we’re all so excited!
AB: No doubt, I’m excited to be a Co-Musical Director this year with my partner, Omar Edwards. He’s another Philly guy and we are going to set the world ablaze! Riri has had the superpower of all her career of being Anti, no pun intended! So, what that allows us to do is for us to think completely outside of the box. I can’t give you too many more details to be completely honest, but I will say that it’s going to be a whirlwind experience for that 13 mins for sure. I think that the people will love it for sure. I always like to call it the Super Bowl catalog of songs so I promise you that you will hear your favorites!
AM: Tell us about BASSic Black Entertainment and what it offers to those in the music industry.
AB: Absolutely, BBE we call it for short, BASSic Black Entertainment was founded by myself and my beautiful wife, Kaisha Blackstone. At a point in 2008/2009/2010, my stock as MD was rising and I was not able to be in multiple places at one time! So, the artists trusted me and said, “hey, even though you can’t be there. Can you set it up for me, hire the personnel?” I said of course and knowing that these people shared the same core values as me musically and personally, character and integrity as well – at one point, I had over 250 musicians, singers and engineers collectively out on the road with different tours. My wife said, “ok guy, hold on. Let’s figure this out.” How can we not just monetize because it wasn’t about that, it was about creating a structure for these people. I kind of was like calling them up, doing the music and then throwing them out with the wolves per se in my earlier career. But once we set up BASSic Black Entertainment, there is a structure, there are tour managers, there are rates in place and everything that allows people to be able to come to work and maximize their jobs for the potential to be a musician and to not have to worry that anybody will take advantage of them. They also know that the BBE brand is represented as well so it’s all with excellence.
Right now, we are a music staffing agency, we have now branched into the record label industry business as well with BBE Records and we will continue to not only put out music, and new artists, but also support tours. Right now, I have a BBE band out with Jeezy, a BBE band out with SZA, a BBE band out with Ari Lennox, we’re doing great! For myself, I’m opening this spring for Jill Scott, so that is going to be a great experience as well.
AM: I mean, you have so many plates that are spinning, all those projects, prepping for your spring tour, going to the GRAMMYs next month!
AB: Yesssss!
AM: Congratulations on that! You have the halftime show coming up – how do you take a moment for yourself in terms of self-care and making sure that you can kind of refill your cup or at least partially?
AB: I’m about to give you some exclusiveness! I like to just disappear from rehearsal for 3 days and to see my kids! Family first over everything to me! If I have their blessing to go out and be great, that allows me to remain creative and to operate in my most maximum genius. If the home structure is not cool, I’m coming home – you know what I’m saying? Even if home is cool and my stomach is not cool, or me missing my family and my wife is not cool, I’m coming home so that is how I replenish myself. I kiss my babies – I love on my family. I bring them out with me when I can. They support me in all I do, it’s been a sacrifice. It’s a sacrifice not only for me, but my wife as well. I’m just so thankful that I have a strong woman like that to hold the fort down, be at the crib – she knows that I’m out here building a legacy for our children. Hopefully, for her to be proud of as well. That’s how I replenish myself by filling myself up with love from my family.
AM: Once again, it was so much fun to research you for this piece as there were things that we already know, but it was a treasure trove of so many things like being the MD for All Star Basketball Weekend and the Oscars, you got an Emmy for last year’s halftime show for Oustanding Music Direction – you have done so much, you have worked with so many artists and now you have your own album, what do you want your legacy to be?
AB: My legacy should be that Adam Blackstone was a core value person, giving, selfless, loving and also did good music and made people laugh, made them dance through the melody. If that can be my legacy, that would be more then I could ever ask for. If my music is it then that is a plus, I promise you! I’ve been so thankful to see the impact that it has had through the accolades. The Emmy award was so so great, but I was hired to do a job, right. I was always going to do the best that I could do. I’m alsoways going to be the best me that I can be and an Emmy just validated that someone else thought that it was a good job as well. This GRAMMY nomination hit differently for me, because it’s an idea in my head – the music, it’s an idea in my gut, it’s an idea in my soul and it’s an idea in my heart. So, to see how that one idea can come to fruition and other people then latch on to that idea which was created by yourself, it just meant a whole different aspect for me with that. So the music thing has been such a great tool to show me the power of music, you know what I mean? I’m super excited for what’s to come and super thankful for that!

TOM COLICCHIO + THE BIG GAME
This Sunday, the Big Game will be here and that means cheering for our favorite division and or team! We love the fact that we can come together over food, sports and a great story! We’ve been collecting a number of recipes and we caught up with Chef Tom Colicchio, 5 X James Beard Award winner, Emmy Award Winner, Executive Producer and Host of BRAVO’s Top Chef, the Restaurateur and Founder of Crafted Hospitality. He talked with us about what he’s serving, what our playbook needs to be for getting prepared for the Big Day and of course getting to hear about Top Chef World All Stars which premiers on March 9th!
ATHLEISURE MAG: Before we get into the Big Game and all of the good food that we’re going to talk about. When did you realize that you wanted to be a chef?
CHEF TOM COLICCHIO: Oh, when I was about 15, I always cooked at home and my dad suggested that I become a chef. Actually, if you look in my yearbook, circa 1980, on the bottom of my photo, it says, “plan to be a chef.”
AM: Love that!
Clearly we’re all excited for the Big Game coming up on Sunday. It’s all about people coming together and the foods that we’re all going to eat. What are you excited about when it comes to watching the game and who are you cheering for?
CHEF TC: I’m an NFC guy so I guess I’m cheering for the Eagles. Also, the owner of the Eagles, Jeffrey Lurie, did us a great favor, he was actually, he and his ex-wife at the time, they were our first investors in a film that my wife made about hunger in America, so I have a soft spot for the Lurie family.
AM: Noted!
CHEF TC: Yeah, we’re just going to enjoy the day with kids, some family and maybe some friends will pop by. We keep it pretty simple around our house and you know, it’s the typical stuff that you would want to find around game day – nachos. There is this little steak dish that I do that’s almost like a salad and of course, there’s wings. They’re a favorite in my household almost every night and not just reserved for game day.
AM: Same!
CHEF TC: This particular recipe has a barbecue sauce that’s a little bit different which has sour cherries. So there is some garlic and some ginger, there’s onion, serrano chilies for some spice, lime juice and a little bit of vinegar for some acid and then the sour cherries provide a little bit of sweetness. Since it’s sour cherries, there’s a little bit of tartness as well. So it’s really well balanced.
More importantly is the chicken that we’re actually using. This is a new company called, Do Good Chicken and it’s in your market, you can find it. What we do is that we take food from supermarkets that would normally go in the garbage and end up in a landfill and create methane, which then creates greenhouse gases and hurts our environment, we take all that surplus food on a massive scale, process it and turn it into an odorless, flavorless powder that we then turn into pellets and in turn, feed our chickens. We give them to our growers who are growing our chickens for us. So you can actually help save the environment by simply just buying a different chicken. So when you’re in the supermarket, you have a lot of different choices that you can make in chickens. You can just buy Do Good Chicken knowing that you can help the environment. So people, I think that they want to be able to do things whether they’re buying electric cars or maybe something else. But this is very simple, buy a different chicken! You can help save the environment! In fact, every chicken that you purchase from Do Good Chicken, takes about 4 pounds of carbon out of the atmosphere.
AM: Oh wow!
So obviously, you just shared with us this chicken recipe that looks amazing. What tips do you have for people that are entertaining their friends or family for the Big Game and how they can make it easy for them and enjoyable as well.
CHEF TC: Yeah, you have to start a couple of days in advance. Make sure that your shopping is done by Thursday. Make sure that your prep, you’ve started on Sat at least! Don’t wait until Sunday morning where you’re running around. Get all of that chopping out of the way. So if you’re doing this sauce, you can make it on Thursday or on Friday – it’s going to hold. Get your chicken wings. This is really important when you’re making chicken, you want it to be really really dry. So buy it a couple of days in advance, take it out of the package, keep it open, do not cover it in your refrigerator so it dries out. That’s how you get crispy crispy chicken. So that’s really important. But anything that you’re chopping, if you’re making salsas and things like that, just do it ahead of time. You don’t have to wait until the last second. Typically, when I’m cooking, if I’m making a dinner party at home, I want to get all of the chopping, the cutting and the prepping out of the way early. When I’m cooking, I’m not using a knife anymore, I’m just cooking and you can really just focus on that. Also, you want to keep this really simple because you want to spend time with your friends. The worst thing that you can do is have a bunch of people at your house and you’re stuck in the kitchen the entire time. You want to get out there and to enjoy the game as well.
AM: We couldn’t agree more and those are great tips! It’s kind of like Thanksgiving – prepping in advance!
CHEF TC: Absolutely! You’ve got to prep in advance and sometimes, a couple of days in advance! I think the other things to is that too often, I don’t think that we think about what we’re doing ahead of time. By now you should have your plays written out, you should know what your moves are going to be. You don’t want to call an audible the day of!
AM: Well, we’re sure that you have an awesome playbook coach!
CHEF TC: Haha you’ve got to read the defense too!
AM: Without a doubt!
We’re so excited for Top Chef to come out next month! It’s always exciting and we love when we get to talk to people that have been part of that universe. We’ve talked with Gail Simmons (listen on Athleisure Kitchen), Chef Justin Sutherland (listen on Athleisure Kitchen), Chef Kristen Kish (listen on Athleisure Kitchen) and other people that have been cheftestants and Chef Nyesha Arrington is our cover for the JAN ISSUE #85.
CHEF TC: Oh yeah, she’s great!
AM: We love her to pieces!
So what can expect for the All Stars, next month in London?
CHEF TC: Well, what’s really cool about this one is that it’s International All Stars. So, there are Top Chef productions all over the globe and so we’re taking the best over those regions – either winners or runners ups and bringing them all together. So we have contestants from Poland, Germany, Thailand, France, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and of course, the United States. It’s a great competition, it was a lot of fun shooting in London and it’s going to be fantastic!
AM: We’re definitely looking forward to that! Are there any other things that we should keep an eye out for because you’re always doing so many positive things and using your platform to let people know what you think about the state of things.
CHEF TC: Yes, I will continue to work on things for issues that revolve around hunger. There is the Farm Bill which is where all the hunger policies are contained. That’s happening and every 5 years, it’s debated so that’s coming up and I’m focusing on that and I am working on a new restaurant in Washington, D.C. that will hopefully open around Nov.
AM: That’s exciting, I always love when I go by Craft as we’re based here in NY. It’s amazing to be able to connect with you and to see what you’re doing and to watch Top Chef as well as to try out this chicken recipe.

SOUR CHERRY BBQ WINGS
· 4 lbs Do Good Chicken Party Wings
· 2 tablespoons salted butter
· ½ yellow onion, finely chopped
· 1 serrano chile, seeded and minced
· 2 garlic cloves, smashed
· ¾ cup sour cherry preserves
· 1/3 cup lime juice about 2 limes
· 1 lime, zested
· 1 tablespoon ketchup
· Salt and Pepper
· Flavorless oil, such as avocado or vegetable
Preheat the over to 450F and Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings in 2 tablespoons oil and season with salt and pepper.
Transfer the wings to the baking sheets skin side up and bake for 45 minutes, until cooked through and crisp.
While the wings are baking, make your BBQ sauce. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chipped saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add half of the minced serrano pepper and smashed garlic and cook for 1 minute, until softened and garlic is fragrant.
Add the onion and pepper mixture to a blender along with the sour cherry preserves, lime juice, and ketchup. Blend until smooth.
Return the cherry BBQ sauce back and to the pan and stir in the remaining serrano pepper. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer the BBQ sauce to a bowl.
Remove the wings from the oven when finishing baking and add them to a large bowl. Toss with one third of the cherry BBQ sauce.
Return the tossed wings back to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5 minutes until sticky and caramelized.
Transfer the glazed wings to a serving dish, sprinkle with lime zest, and serve with the remaining glaze on the side.
If you’re looking for a sauce to cool you down, mix some cherry glaze with mayo for a cooler dipping sauce!

We’re back with Zach Shallcross for tonight’s latest episode of ABC’s The Bachelor. Zach catches up with Sean Loew on the phone to hear about how he should continue forward with his upcoming dates. We even get a peek at Catherine and his kids as well.
Jesse Palmer walks in with the women and lets them know that there will be 3 dates - 2 1-on-1s as well as a group date. Kaity will get the date.
Kaity’s date is at night with him and they make their way to the museum where they can explore it alone while they’re glammed up for the evening. They connect with one another so that they can dig deeper and see where they align. She opens up to him and he realizes that she hasn’t been treated the way that she should be. She gets the date night rose. He asks her if she would like to spend the night with him there. They have a setup in one of the areas of the museum which has a glamping feel to it.
While they are on their date, the group date card arrives which will include: Anastasia, Ariel, Bailey, Brianna, Brooklyn, Catherine Mandrell, Charity, Davia, Gabi, Genevie, Greer, Jess, Katherine, Kylee and Mercedes. That means that Aly will have the 1-on-1 date.
Back at the house, the women realize that since the date started at night, she will be out pretty late. As the ladies get up, they walk by the suitcase and see that it is still there and it’s 7am and she is still not there.
Kaity comes back to the mansion and talks about her date and the women see her in her PJ’s with the rose. She lets them know that he asked her to stay and she didn’t get any sleep! Thankfully she kept the fact that they pushed the single beds together.
The women arrive for their group date on the football field. Zach played for 9 years and the women feel that they need to bring it as they’re all there minus those that are on the 1-on-1 date. LA Chargers Antonio Gates and Shawne Merriman are on hand as the 5th Annual Bachelor Bowl will take place. The wining team will get to go to the after party. They go through the paces and get ready for the event. Hannah Storm (we covered her previously in OCT ISSUE #22 for The Hannah Storm Foundation event which was held at the Athletic Club in - Jesse was also at this event which is when we first met him) and Jesse Palmer will be commentators for this game.
The ladies battle it out as they play the game. and the blue team won and they get the after-party. Christina continues to talk about the fact that she had the 1st 1-on-1 date. It gets to the point that no one wants to hear about it, especially after she says that your relationship is real when you have had one. That makes the women sitting with her feel a certain way when they hear it. Zach tells Charity that he feels very comfortable with her.
Back at the mansion, the women who played football chat with one another as the recoup from the game, bumps and bruises. Aly gets a gift from Zach for her date which is a wedding dress. Once again, there is a shift in the mood.
On the group date, Christina is finally called out by mentioning her 1-on-1 and the fact that she has never been on a group date. The women tell her to stop oversharing. Bailey tries to get some clarity and validation and walks away feeling more uneasy than she was before talking to him. Circling back with him and asking him point blank, he tells her that he doesn’t think that they can get to her. He sends Bailey home.
Christina was rooming with Bailey and her lackluster response to her leaving puts the women off. Zach lets the women know and says that she sought validation and wasn’t going to lead her on. He gives the group date rose to Charity and the women hype her up; however, Christina says that she is mad that she didn’t get it. She feels that she’s confused that it didn’t make sense for her to not get it. The women shut it down. Clearly, this will be an issue.
Charity arrives at her date. He’s in a suit and she is wearing a fun bridal pantsuit with a train. They skydive and although both are nervous, they do it and have a great time! They also spend some time at a winery in a hot tub to allow their bodies to feel like they have come back down to Earth! Zach can’t wait to sit with her at dinner to find out more about her. He finds out how she has her insecurities even though she comes off as put together. This connects them and she receives the rose as well as gets to dance to singer/songwriter, Griffen Palmers’ performance.
With the rose ceremony being tonight, Jesse lets them know that there won’t be a cocktail party that evening, but there will be a pool party and he is on the way. He likes that hey don’t have a stuffy party and people can just have a good time. The ladies find a way to connect with him so that they can get time with him so that they stand a better chance for the rose ceremony.
Brianna talks with Zach and lets her know that she is leaving and that it’s important for her to know that Christina is not authentic and she’s creating havoc in the house. Zach feels shocked and now wants to know as he doesn’t want the environment to be anything but a safe space.
Zach connects with the remaining women and lets them know that Brianna has decided to leave and let him know that Christina was an issue. He asks to speak with Christina. She tells him it would be a bummer to let her go and Zach has a no-drama policy that he strictly adheres to. After speaking to Christina, he talks with Brooklyn and Charity to find out what happened. Jesse swings by and lets them know that the pool party is over and that they will go to the rose ceremony as he doesn’t want to continue with this segment of the day. Christina feels that everything is a misunderstanding and that she isn’t stopping connections from happening. Catherine Mandrell doesn’t receive a rose as he said that no matter the connection, he can’t forget what happened in the house and how he made the others feel.
Next week, they’re moving onto the Bahamas and he can focus more time on the women with him. Of course, we know that there will be more drama that’s happening in the group.
ZACH GIVES ROSES TO | Aly, Anastasia, Ariel, Brooklyn, Charity, Davia, Gabi, Genevie, Greer, Jess, Kaity, Katherine, Kylee and Mercedes.
ZACH DOESN’T GIVE A ROSE TO | Bailey, Brianna, Catherine Mandrell
Each night during the season, we tweet about The Bachelor and you can chat along with us (@AthleisureMag + with our Co-Founder/Creative + Style Director, Kimmie Smith @ShesKimmie) to see what’s taking place!
Each week we will let you know who our faves were from the last episode and if we’ve changed up since then as it pertains to who we think should go to Hometowns.
We also suggest a podcast that we’ve become obsessed with over the past few seasons, Wondery’s Bachelor Happy Hour to get their feedback!

NORMALIZE HOT SAUCE
We love a good foodie hack and when we realize that things that we may have been doing become mainstream, we can give ourselves a pat on a back and get excited that we won’t have to do so many steps. That’s how we felt when we realized that one of our favorite sauces, Tabasco Green Jalapeño Sauce which we have used as a dressing. Now, Tabasco x Tinx Avocado Jalapeño Hot Sauce Dressing allows us to enjoy this on our salads, grilled chicken and so much more! We caught up with TINX who is known for giving advice to her followers about relationships and mental health. We also love how she enjoys food and brings us her faves and hacks along the way. We wanted to find out more about her collaboration with Tabasco as well as why she wants to normalize hot sauce as dressing!
ATHLEISURE MAG: It’s great to connect with you TINX! Tell us a bit about who you are and what people can expect when they’re on your IG as well as your TikTok channel.
TINX: My name is TINX. I’m a Content Creator, podcast host, radio show host and I have been creating content for about 3 years. My content is a big mix of things. I give a lot of advice, I do little sketches, I love pop culture, I love food and I love good recommendations. So, that’s what my followers know me for.
AM: I love that! I grew up on Tabasco, I love the flavors. Original is always a great place to start and I’m a huge fan of the green one – I know you are as well! Why do you love Tabasco so much?
T: I have loved it for so long. I was trying to remember the first time that I had it which was probably when I was very young! I grew up on it too. But it’s just a very comforting hot sauce for me. I have it all the time. The green was always my favorite. I just love how zesty it is and what little zing it adds to your food so it’s honestly an honor of a lifetime that we co-created the hot sauce dressing together. I still can’t believe it!
AM: That is insane. How did you connect with Tabasco and what does it feel like as you’re the first individual person to be able to partner with this brand that has been around for a very long time!
T: They are the most iconic and they’re a great company. They are still a family owned and run brand. They have been making Tabasco for 154 years. The cool thing is that they have barely changed anything, it’s a family recipe. They’re all still so involved, they are such a tight knit team. I was actually lucky to be able to go to Avery Island, Louisiana to be able to meet them all and to see how they produced Tabasco. I was just struck by how close they all are and how much pride that they take in their role in creating all of these amazing hot sauces that we enjoy in our homes every day.
They knew that I was a superfan for ages and I was always joking around online that we should normalize hot sauce as dressing! Green Tabasco makes a great dressing, you mix it with a little olive oil and a bit of this and that and so finally, we got to talking and decided that we should just make it official and co-create this amazing product!
AM: That’s great! You mentioned that you were at their HQ. What was it like being there and what was your biggest takeaway after having such a fun experience?
T: It was such a cool experience. I think that my biggest takeaway was just how much everyone cares and how much pride that everyone takes in this amazing company. You know what? I think that it shows in their integrity of their products and how delicious everything is in every single hot sauce. We actually got to do a hot sauce tasting there because you know there are so many different types of Tabasco and that was the coolest thing. I got to try traditional food from Louisiana and I have never tried foods from there. So trying Étouffée, Gumbo, a Shrimp Po’ Boy – it was all so cool and definitely trying the different Tabasco flavors in one place was absolutely amazing. It was a great trip!
AM: I really love that you feel it should be a dressing. We’ve been doing it for years because why not? We love sauce and we saw your IG post of you literally making it into a dressing. Why are you so passionate about normalizing that this can be a dressing too?
T: I just don’t want anyone to have any sad salads anymore! I think that this is the year of no more sad salads! I love salad, but it has to have a kick to it. It has to have something interesting to it and that is why I’m so passionate. I think that if more people used hot sauce dressing, then they would probably like salad more!
AM: This is true! We love a good salad, but you do have to shake it up a little bit!
T: You’ve got to have something fun for sure!
AM: It can get a little monotonous if you don’t! So you worked with them, you guys formulated the dressing, you have the packaging that you had your input on as well. What was that like?
T: It was a really cool experience and we have been working on this for months and I knew that I wanted the base to be the green Tabasco because that’s my favorite. It was just a matter of adding in some of my other favorite salad dressing ingredients like olive oil, apple cider vinegar, herbs – I love the herbaceous kick that it has to it and then designing the bottle was so cool! I wanted it to feel fresh and new and really represent the flavors in the actual hot sauce dressing which I think that it does well and it’s wild for me to be able to hold it in my hand and just to be able to share it with the world.
AM: That’s always a great feeling. What else do you like having hot sauce on? I know that for us, the green one on avocados, a green version of a Bloody Mary, eggs – so many things!
T: I love it on grilled chicken. I got a grill recently, so I have really been grilling a lot. Grilled shrimp, it’s so good and you can use this dressing for a shrimp cocktail. It’s absolutely delicious or I’ll just cup up vegetables and dip them in it for a little snack. It’s so multipurpose and I love how many uses it has.
AM: You created a salad and you have a recipe. As salad people, we love hearing that! Tell us about it and what do we need?
T: You need romaine, radish, tomatoes, shrimp, salt and pepper. It’s really good and of course, the hot sauce dressing! It has the most amazing crunch to it. I really love a crunch in a salad.
AM: Same!
T: It’s a great base and it’s just the perfect blend of flavors.
AM: Love that! Are there any other projects that you are working on that we should keep an eye out for?
T: I’m really focused on my podcast and radio show. My radio show is every Wed on SIRIUS XM. It’s really cool because I get to connect with all my followers. It’s a call in show so people can call in and ask for advice and we just chat through things. We talk about everything from dating to modern dilemmas whatever modern life throws at us which is very cool. I feel very lucky that people trust me and it’s just amazing to connect on that human level with people. So that’s what I am really focusing on right now.
