THE PATH
Hulu

Last spring, Bingely Streaming shared the season premier of The Path which follows a family at the center of a controversial cult movement as they struggle with rela tionships, faith and power. Each episode takes an in-depth look at the gravitational pull of belief and what it means to choose

between the life we live and the life we want. The series blends elements of mystery-thriller, romance and the supernatural.

If you're into fast paced shows, The Path rewards viewers in its patient and methodical approach to unfolding its story over it's first season which included 10 episodes.

Season 1 of The Path ended with Eddie  (Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul) and Sarah (True Detective's Michelle Monaghan) at a crossroads in their marriage.

Season 2 continues with these characters, who are all members of a religious cult called the Meyerist Movement, headquartered in upstate New York. Eddie recently returned from a sort of vision quest in Peru, and saw things while there that are now seriously testing his faith. Sarah is Eddie’s wife, a 100 percent faithful, life-long member of the movement, who becomes suspicious of her husband's odd

behaviour. If you've seen the trailer, you see that their relationship hasn't improved.

Sarah in particular seems like she’s struggling with how to proceed emotionally, while teenage son Hawk seems like he’s squarely siding with his dad on this one. It’ll also be interesting to see what type of fallout occurs due to the shocking revelation Eddie experienced in the very last scene of season 1, as it’s hard to imagine him not having a million questions about what he’s just seen.

The real wildcard is Cal (Hannibal’s Hugh Dancy), an ambitious – and sometimes frighteningly violent – Meyerist leader with designs on taking over after the movement’s creator dies.
