If you are interested in health and fitness, one job that you could try out is being a fitness trainer. To be a good fitness trainer, you might need to take up an anatomy and physiology course to further help you understand the human body and, thus, proper exercise techniques.
Of course, there are other benefits for you when you take up an anatomy and physiology course, such as these:
It Can Lead You To A Career In Medicine
Some people may take up an anatomy and physiology course just to fulfill college credits, only to find that they really have a talent for it. If you manage to get the top scores in the class for this subject, you should seriously consider whether a career in Medicine is now open for you. Of course, getting a Masters is also an option. Click to find out the requirements for this.
You Develop a Sharper Memory
The anatomy and physiology course will require you to memorize a lot of information, most of it about the different minute parts of the human body. This means that you will be sharpening your memory so that even small details don’t escape you. And this skill will follow you in other areas as well, such as teaching people how to exercise.
You Learn to Analyze Human Body Parts (Including Your Own)
To learn about the human body, it is mandatory to open up animal cadavers such as dead animals because that is how you gain an understanding of why different body parts are attached to other body parts. This subject will also include analyzing your own body, which may entail taking your own blood samples and looking at it through a microscope. You might also examine your urine samples and skin cell samples too. These will allow you to understand what is happening to your own body so that you can analyze well what is happening to the body of other people as you teach exercise to them.
You Learn to Be a Self Starter
Immersing yourself in an anatomy and physiology class will mean that you should take the time to study the difficult parts of the course. If the instructor doesn’t cover everything in a lecture, it is beneficial to be a self-starter and study even the parts she left out. This allows you to become an expert on anatomy and physiology which will come in handy as you get more and more clients with different kinds of body types and different fitness needs.
You Learn What the Human Body Is Capable of Doing
Some people might think that the human body has many limitations but fail to notice its many extraordinary functions. By taking an anatomy and physiology course, you will be able to appreciate just how wonderful the human body is and the many possible accomplishments the person occupying that human body can do. Eventually, as you practice your knowledge of anatomy and physiology in your fitness trainer role, you will also learn how other people who have physical disabilities are able to overcome their limitations and become superheroes in their own right.
You Are Able to Earn a Living By Practicing What You Learned
If your prime motivation in taking up anatomy and physiology was to become a better fitness trainer, well, congratulations! You picked the right subject to study in-depth. By learning more about the human body and its functions, you will be better able to assist your clients in exercising with proper form and instruct them on how to stay fit. You will be able to answer the questions of your clients about training for a sport such as a triathlon while they are pursuing work and family responsibilities at the same time. And you will get well paid for your efforts because a capable fitness trainer is hard to come by nowadays, with many so-called “fitness experts” masquerading as authorities on fitness and exercise nowadays.
Plus the good news is that you can help as many people as you can fit into your schedule so you stand to benefit financially from it.
Final Thoughts
Taking up an anatomy and physiology course is really a good fit for a fitness trainer because it requires memorization of and familiarity with the human body and its many functions. You will find that your job as a fitness trainer requires this kind of in-depth training about the body. You may also realize that you are able to help many people with your knowledge and expertise about anatomy and physiology, particularly when it comes to exercising and fitness.
You could use this kind of immersion as a stepping stone towards a full-time career in Medicine if you are talented enough. So do try to get entry to an anatomy and physiology course in a great school so that your career options will improve.
Fluff, cutting the cheese, breaking wind, booty belch, whoopee, and anal salute are all different ways to refer to the standard and embarrassing fart. Did you know the average person farts approximately 14 to 23 times per day? As awkward as it may be, everyone needs to release gas from their body. It is part of the digestive process and is a necessary bodily function. What do your farts (passing gas) reveal about your general health?
What is a fart? Flatulence, also known as a fart, is something everyone experiences. It's the release of intestinal gas, which forms as a result of digesting food. Gas can be found throughout the digestive tract, including the stomach, small intestine, colon, and rectum.
New York-Based Internist and Gastroenterologist, Dr. Niket Sonpal, explains what your flatulence is trying to tell you.
1. Do you have a balanced diet?
A balanced diet should provide the body with the proper number of vitamins and nutrients. Consuming the appropriate amount of fiber and healthy foods helps keep the digestive system working correctly. If you tend to pass gas more often than you would like, this could mean that the body is not receiving the correct nutrients. Avoiding foods that are processed and harder to digest and sticking to more natural ingredients, could decrease how often you toot.
2. You may have a food intolerance.
Not all food allergies can be life-threatening; however, they can still cause conflict day-to-day for some individuals. Food intolerances mainly affect the digestive system making it harder for the stomach to digest food properly. This can lead to smelly and awkward bloating, reflux, and diarrhea after a meal. For example, people with a dairy intolerance struggle to digest lactose, which results in the stomach becoming extraordinarily bloated and sends out foul smells out of the anus.
3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Constantly farting throughout the day could be a sign of a health issue such as irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, or, in extreme cases, colon cancer. Typically, these health issues cause extreme flatulence, odors or odd pressure on the rectum when they are about to be released.
4. You are stressed.
Symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome go hand in hand with stress. Stress and anxiety can lead to excessive swallowing of air, oxygen release, and digestion issues. These are three causes of having more gas than usual. When people are panicking or stressed, they often swallow more air than necessary, leading to bloating and pressure that needs to be released. On the other spectrum, hyperventilating allows an excess of oxygen to enter the bloodstream, which can also lead to gas problems.
5.Pre-Menstrual Women
That time of the month is already painful enough. There are changes in your bowel habits during this time caused by fluctuations in hormones. The shift in your hormones and bowel movements cause farting to become more frequent and smellier during this time of the month. Be mindful of accidentally passing wind while you are pre-menstrual.
6. You might have harmful gut bacteria.
Regular farting is an indicator of healthy gut bacteria and a properly working digestive system. Your body needs good bacteria in your intestine for it to remain healthy. Microbes in your gut are a positive thing because they eat up excess fiber and carbohydrates we do not use. Also, they produce beneficial bacteria. If you do not have any good bacteria, it can lead to constipation and bloating, which is unhealthy for your digestive system.

Full of protein and other vital nutrients such as iron and B vitamins, steak is no longer considered an unhealthy entree. Steak can be a flavorful part of a healthy diet, especially when you cook it in a healthy way and serve it with plenty of vegetables. Different cooking methods have an effect on the quality and healthiness of steak, which is why you need to choose a method that not only gives you a flavorful meal to enjoy but also minimizes nutrient loss and produces the lowest amount of harmful chemicals.
Gas grilling
Grilling is one of the oldest and easiest ways to cook a steak; you only need to place your steak on the grill and turn it once or twice until it's cooked. However, the type of grill you use matters. Charcoal grills are the most commonly used, but the smoke from the charcoal can leave cancer-causing materials on your steak. For a much healthier steak, use a gas grill instead. Make sure you preheat your grill before placing your steak down and brush it lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
Pan-searing
There's plenty of debate on whether pan-searing steak is healthy or not. However, what determines how healthy a pan-seared steak ends up being is the type and amount of oil you use, the type of pan you use, and the cooking temperature. The first thing you need to do pick a good pan, which can be a stainless steel pan or a cast iron pan. Next, you need to pick a healthy oil that can withstand temperatures of up to 500 degrees, such as avocado oil, canola oil or extra light olive oil. For uniform cooking, try to maintain a temperature of up to 325F.
Sous vide
Although it's a fairly new method that not many people know about, sous vide is probably the healthiest way to cook a steak. When cooking a steak sous vide, you simply need to vacuum-seal it in a bag and dip it in a water bath until it slowly cooks to a precise temperature. You can finish by gently searing or grilling the steak to add a crispy exterior layer but you don't have to. Due to the enhanced flavor of sous vide steak, little or no added fat or salt is needed, making it healthier than other options. Plus, vacuum-sealing steak means that vital minerals and vitamins are not lost during the cooking process.
Steak is not only delicious, but it can also provide you with vital nutrients to keep you healthy and strong. But, to enjoy these benefits, you must ensure that you always use healthy cooking methods.

Staying active is crucial for overall wellness and as a way of staying healthy. For many adults and children, sports are the ideal way to keep fit and maintain social skills. With athletics comes the potential for injuries. In some instances, after an injury has healed, there can be a flare-up.
Sporting injuries happen regardless of how often you play. Whether it's an occasional hobby or you engage on a professional level, getting hurt is a possibility. Injuries typically affect the bones, muscles, or tissues, including tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. Participation in proper strengthening, stretching, and training sessions are vital components when participating in any activity as a means to prevent injury.
It's crucial to have a trained professional properly condition you before you take part in any event. If you develop an injury adequate care with a physical therapy treatment program at a clinic, visit https://www.libertyptnj.com, will get you back in the game stronger and more knowledgeable on safe play.
Among the typical injuries associated with sports are those caused by overuse, such as tennis elbow for players who stress their forearm muscles repeatedly. Running causes ultimately more casualties than any activity as it is a staple for nearly all sporting events. It involves muscles in the body from the feet leading to the neck, with a majority of the strain put on the leg muscles. Learning prevention and methods of treatment will limit the occurrence. Here are some of the more common issues faced by enthusiasts.
More than half of the reported problems that people relay relates to the knee, such as 'runner's knee' which encompasses a majority of the pains/aches involving the kneecap. It defines as a kneecap 'misalignment' where the knee pulls to the side, rubbing the groove as it flexes or straightens, causing it to wear the cartilage and, in some instances developing fluid resulting in swelling. The issue affects any athlete, not only those who are runners.
Prevention through quadriceps strengthening and the use of footwear that provides the proper support will keep the kneecap in alignment within the center of the groove. Quadriceps stretch and massage are types of physical therapy treatment for this condition, which results in the muscle fibers stretching and alleviating the kneecap from pulling up. Also, the use of anti-inflammatories and ice may be of benefit.
The shoulder is an extremely fragile part of the body, making up quite a few problems for the sporting arena. The rotator cuff muscles hold together the shoulder bones and promote the fine movement. For sports where throwing/hitting are the primary focus, such as tennis, volleyball, baseball, golf, and so on, in addition to swimming and weight training, the shoulder joint has continual stress, and the rotator cuff muscles stretch. When these muscles stretch, the joint head loosens in the socket.
If the arm raises, the biceps tendon has the potential to catch between the ball and socket, resulting in shoulder impingement and tendon inflammation. Rotator cuff strengthening allows the joint to stay in the socket for the prevention of this issue.
The Achilles deems the largest tendon in the body connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone and is the reason that the heel can lift off the ground. When there is tendon overuse, it has the potential for tendonitis and inflammation, particularly with sports where jumping or running is the concentration, including basketball or skiing. The Achilles can tear with excessive pronation of the foot and ankle with subsequent pain described along the lines of a gunshot wound.
Treatment can include rest, ice, compression, and elevation, anti-inflammatories, stretching with tears having the possibility of surgical repair. Strengthening the muscles, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes, will assist with prevention.
With the proper course of physical therapy in treating these types of injuries, education and advice provided will aid in preventing recurrence or flare-up of the injury or condition. Stretching and strengthening exercises taught during the course of treatment will assist the sport enthusiast in understanding safe body mechanics. Check this information on PT helping with those in the sporting arena suffering casualties.
Athletes should always prepare for their events with an adequate warm-up routine, including stretching exercises before engaging. If you want to sign on for an athletic event, ensure that there is sufficient training from an expert, so you learn the precise techniques.

If you have a 2WD truck, you may think about switching to 4WD. Perhaps you want to save money over buying a new 4WD truck or think it will be a fun project. Although adding new driven truck wheels may sound like a good idea, this project can be a really serious undertaking. Here’s what you need to know before you start.
Is It Worth It?
Before you even start thinking about this project, it is important to get some facts straight. First, this is a very complicated undertaking. You will need to make major modifications to the mechanical workings of your vehicle.
Second, as you may have guessed from the above, this is a very expensive project. There are very few circumstances in which it makes more financial sense to upgrade a 2WD truck to 4WD truck than to simply sell the original and buy a new one.
However, it can be worth it in some cases. Perhaps you enjoy the challenge of a really in-depth project. You may want to have more control over your drivetrain and suspension. Alternatively, you may be upgrading a truck that can’t simply be replaced such as a classic.
What Is Involved?
There are quite a few components to change. Some of them you can buy aftermarket. Others may make more sense to get from a donor 4WD truck. These are some of the items you will need:
• A transfer case and gear shifter
• Complete front axle assemble
• Driveshaft
• Upgraded transmission
• Possible new wiring harness (some trucks have blanked-off 4WD connections)
• Differentials
All of these items will need to be installed. This is not a job for the faint of heart. Consider getting a professional mechanic to help. You will likely need a hydraulic lift to do this project as it is almost impossible to do with just jack stands alone.
The transfer case is the most significant part of the project. This is the component that allows your drivetrain to deliver power to the front and rear axle. The new front axle assembly is also important because undriven wheels have different assemblies than driven wheels.
Other Considerations
Beyond cost and complexity, you will also need to consider the changes in driving characteristics. Most notably, a 4WD vehicle typically needs more power than a 2WD vehicle due to the extra weight.
Again, this can add cost and complexity to the project. So, the conversion often only makes sense if you are planning to build a project from the ground up anyway. Consider also refreshing other parts of the vehicle at the same time such as installing new wheel and tire packages.
Get Started
Although this type of project is very cost and time prohibitive, it can also be a lot of fun. If you have the tools, the patience and the money, it may be worthwhile doing. You will certainly learn a lot about how modern vehicles operate.
Don’t forget to enlist the help of a mechanic that knows what he or she is doing. This is a very complex undertaking that could seriously harm your truck if you do it incorrectly. If you are successful, however, this is something to be seriously proud of.

On a recent HIV study presented by Merck Research Laboratories, there were some interesting facts that came out via recent research that focused on Millennials and Gen Z on their lack of knowledge about this disease:
· Survey findings showed a profound lack of accurate sex and HIV education among all participants, however the trend worsened in Gen Z
o More than two-thirds of HIV-negative young adults said they were most concerned about getting HIV as compared to other sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
o 54% of HIV-negative respondents did not report using condoms or pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to protect themselves against the HIV virus and other STIs
· Although millennials and Gen Z did not experience the start of the HIV epidemic firsthand, they still perpetuate the stigma seen in the early days of HIV
o More than one quarter of HIV-negative millennials said they have avoided hugging, talking to or being friends with someone with HIV, and 30% said they would prefer not to interact socially with someone with HIV
o People with HIV who take HIV medicine as prescribed and get and keep an undetectable viral load (or stay virally suppressed) have effectively no risk of transmitting HIV to their HIV-negative sexual partners. The survey found that respondents had varying perceptions about what it means to be undetectable and the risk of transmitting the virus to another person.
o 84% of Gen Z and 65% of millennials living with HIV who are abstaining from sex do so because of their HIV-positive status

We kick off the new year with this month's cover, CNBC's Seema Mody who is the Global Markets Reporter on the network. This month's cover took place in the Lower East Side's Lamia Fish Market which is known as a brunch and evening destination. We showcase fun looks that are perfect as we continue through winter's transition as well as checking out this fun restaurant. We sit down with Seema to find out about she became interested in her career, her favorite stories and markets that she has covered as well as what she enjoys doing when she is off air.
ATHLEISURE MAG: When did you realize that you wanted to be a journalist?
SEEMA MODY: I should probably thank Nani (my grandmother) for my passion for storytelling. Growing up, I spent many of my summers visiting my grandparents in Ludhiana, Punjab. One of my fondest memories is sitting on their roof, drinking masala chai and listening to Nani talk about Indian politics and the country’s fight for independence. Those conversations lit a fire in my belly that—after a couple of twists and turns—slowly evolved into a career in journalism.
AM: What is it about finance and specifically global markets that drew you to your coverage area? Was this always an area that you felt you wanted to work in?
SM: I was always interested in foreign policy, but it was during my time in London, where I previously relocated to be co-anchor of CNBC’s “Worldwide Exchange,” that I learned how to look at international affairs through the lens of financial markets. When I returned to New York, I was named CNBC’s Global Markets reporter. Part of my job is to wake up every day and report on how international stories, like U.S.-China trade and Brexit, are impacting investors’ portfolios and multinational companies around the world.
AM: We know that you have been with CNBC for quite a few years here in the U.S., as well as London and India. What has your journey been since you have been at the network? What shows do you most frequently appear on currently?
SM: I have had a rather unique journey at CNBC. I started at CNBC TV-18 in Mumbai where I reported on India’s economy. While growing up I frequently traveled to India to visit family, this was my first time actually living there–I’m from Portland, Oregon. Starting fresh in Mumbai inspired me to work around the clock, build relationships with CEOs and break stories. After one year and a lot of persistence, I landed an opportunity with CNBC Business News in New York. What’s great is I am still able to leverage the contacts I made in India; in fact, I have covered its last two elections for the network. I’m passionate about U.S.-India relations and reporting on the decisive change in India’s economic trajectory, as well as the major obstacles facing the current administration.
AM: In addition to your global policy beat, you also cover travel, including hotels, cruises and online travel operators and the industrials. What do you like about this category? SM: Both travel and industrials provide a good read on the global economy and how businesses make decisions on investments in markets outside the U.S. It all ties into the overarching story I aim to tell about the intersection of foreign policy and Wall Street. AM: Tell us about ‘European Close,’ the daily segment which you host on “Squawk Alley.”
SM: If you’re ever wondering what’s happening in Europe, then tune in to CNBC at 11:30AM EST for the latest and greatest! The segment synthesizes complex European topics–from Brexit to ECB meetings—for our global audience.
AM: What is your process for preparing ahead of interviews and stories?
SM: Lots of reading, tweeting and reaching out to valuable sources that give me unparalleled access to movers and shakers in the industry.
AM: What have been some of your favorite stories that you have reported on?
SM: I recently reported on the killing of Iran’s powerful general Qassim Suleimani by a U.S. drone strike and the impact it had on the western world’s relationship with the Middle East. This is a great example of an event that has had a direct, traceable effect on foreign relations and the global economy. Also, my role as correspondent often leads to special opportunities. Last year, I covered Lyft’s highly anticipated IPO at the Nasdaq and reported on the complicated process involved in taking the ride-hailing company public. When China first unveiled retaliatory tariffs on the U.S., the Chinese ambassador to the U.S., Cui Tiankai (he is also also Special Envoy to President Xi) gave me an exclusive interview where I pushed him on topics like intellectual property and currency manipulation. I also love reporting from the field; from getting an inside look at Amtrak’s new modernized fleet in Delaware, to speaking to sweet potato farmers in North Carolina about the impact of tariffs, interacting with Americans across the nation about the state of business is truly gratifying.
AM: What are 3 companies/brands, topics or CEOs/government officials that you are interested in covering/interviewing that you have yet to cover?
SM: The rise of emerging market nations has also been a strong interest mine. Some interviews I hope to one day have include: 1.) Government official: Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro 2.) CEO: Tesla CEO Elon Musk and 3.) Athlete: Serena Williams.
AM: For those who want to better understand the impact that foreign policy has on global markets (but are intimidated by its intricacies), how would you suggest they go about educating themselves so that they can engage in these conversations?
SM: Foreign policy can be overwhelming. Start with one region that interests you and obsess over it. Learn everything you can about the country’s government structure, economic data, key players and issues. Reach out to thought leaders and ask for help. Engage with others on social media. We live in the age of Twitter and learning how to construct thoughts in 140-characters is sometimes more valuable than being able to file a three-page thesis on a topic.
AM: Spanning all of your coverage areas–global policy, travel--what are the three stories you’re watching for 2020?
SM: The 2020 election will have a profound impact on foreign policy and the U.S.’s relationship with the rest of the world. Additionally, Airbnb has shaken up the hospitality industry and changed the way many millennials travel. The company’s IPO this year will be one to watch. Lastly, the Coronavirus outbreak has placed China at the center of a huge crisis. Efforts to contain the virus could prove to be a major test the country’ sgovernment and, in the meantime, billions of dollars are at stake as major companies like Nike and Starbucks close stores on the mainland.
AM: What does a typical day or week look like for you, whether you’re on-set or in the field?
SM: No two days look the same for me but I’m always on the go and on the phone. Thank goodness for AirPods and coffee!
AM: We know that you love tennis. How long have you played it, and what do you enjoy most about it?
SM: To win a match, tennis requires technique and strategy–it’s a unique mix of chess-like thinking and endurance. I played competitively in high school, and I still play in the city. Plus, when I go home my dad always makes sure we spend time on the tennis court. He still has the ability to place shots with surgical precision. That’s probably another reason I enjoy tennis; my whole family is obsessed with the sport.
AM: Where can we find you in the city?
SM: I’m a downtown girl. I always enjoy spending time in the Village. Favorite restaurants: Malaparte and I Sodi. Italian is (clearly) my favorite cuisine.
AM: As someone who travels frequently for work, what are 3 things that we would find in your carry on to make traveling easier?
SM: External battery, a copy of Foreign Affairs, and Chanel under eye cream. It works miracles.
AM: What do you do in your downtime?
SM: Mental and physical health are incredibly important, and I find that yoga and tennis both help me reduce stress and stay fit. Traveling continues to be one of my biggest passions; experiencing different cultures and interacting with people from different parts of the world opens my eyes to new ideas and helps me see different issues from various viewpoints. If I’m not traveling, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, and learning how to cook.

We photographed this cover story with Seema Mody in the Lower Eat Side at Lamia's Fish Market. We sat down with Lamia Funti to talk about their dishes, epic brunches and what we can expect as we go from winter and begin to transition into the spring.
ATHLEISURE MAG: We know that prior to Lamia’s Fish Market you had another restaurant – can you share more about this and what led you to launch this culinary destination?
LAMIA FUNTI: Food has been such a large part of my life, and it has always been a dream of mine to open a restaurant that showcases my Spanish roots. My passion to share my native cuisine is what led me to open (June 2019) Lamia’s Fish Market.
AM: Who is the Executive Chef of Lamia’s Fish Market and what is his background?
LF: I developed the menu personally because I wanted it to be true to my roots, which is a very specific cuisine and way of cooking. We now have Chef Martell Fonville who worked at Marea, Stubborn Seed and Print. It was critical to us to have an Executive Chef on hand who knows and loves fish to maintain the high-level quality of seafood we have here.
AM: How would you describe the restaurant from the décor, areas within the restaurant as well as its culinary focus?
LF: Lamia’s is an upscale Mediterranean seafood restaurant, focused on my coastal roots. The cuisine includes regional classics like fried sardines with chipotle aioli, served alongside traditional fresh pastas like linguini and clams, or savory squid ink spaghetti topped with sea urchin and bottarga. We also have a whole fish baked in salt, served tableside with mallets!
The entire space took us two years to develop alongside designer Dara Young. We wanted the space to be upscale, yet approachable, juxtaposing experiential modernism with authentic nautical elements.
AM: I loved the bar as well as the oyster bar where you can literally pick your preferred fish – why was this essential to have at the restaurant?
LF: Quality food and fish are at the core of our menu. We go to the fish market several times per week to hand-pick what we will be serving. When a guest orders the salt-baked fish we always provide them with a first look before we start preparation. We want people to truly experience our menu, that’s why we serve the salt-baked fish tableside along with mallets for guests to break open the crust.
AM: In looking at the décor, who designed the space as well as the murals, interesting art on the lighting etc.?
LF: The space was designed by Dara Young, Founder of Aviva Collective and 4FRONT Hospitality Development. Dara also designed the beautiful moss wall near our raw bar. The restaurant has three floors, and seven different dining areas, and I wanted each one to feel unique. Art has always been a passion of mine so I knew right away that I would want to incorporate many different artists into the space. We have innovative art installations at every turn including Will Kurtz, Brian Farrell, Michela Martello, Elle Gregg, John Coca, Dave Vasquez, Michael Delfino and Dara Young herself. Artist Michela Martello created the Lamia mural on the original brick wall textured with glimmering glass cabochons. Multi-disciplined visual artist Bryan Farrell painted a multi-dimensional mural in the private dining room. Both the Mezzanine, Private Room, and Grotto overlook the “Lamia” sculpture, created by visionary artist William Kurtz.
The bar is lit by Sailor Jerry inspired tattooed lighting fixtures handed painted by artist Bryan Farrell and Elle Gregg and mounted on a Groin Vault ceiling made of steel and black fishnets.
AM: We loved the fries – what are 3 appetizers that you suggest we should have?
LF: Everyone loves our fish fries! Our Langoustines, Fluke & Blood Orange Crudo, and the Grilled Octopus are must-tries!
AM: What are 3 signature dishes that we should be eating?
LF: We always recommend first time guests try the salt-baked fish. We also have an incredible Sea Urchin & Bottarga Pasta, and Lobster. For those who may be craving meat over seafood, we also have a delicious 32oz Tomahawk Steak.
AM: In looking at beverages offered on the menu, we noticed that wine, beer and sake are the focus – what was the decision behind that?
LF: We wanted to offer guests a unique cocktail menu that doesn’t exist anywhere else. We wanted to challenge ourselves to develop a cocktail menu that pairs well with seafood, that’s innovative and unlike any other.
AM: What are 3 signature cocktails that we should enjoy while there?
LF: My two signature cocktails are Beach Front Views (sake, pineapple, orange, cinnamon, and lime) and the Mermaid Sangria, which is made with fresh berries and cinnamon. If you can handle a little kick, I also recommend our version of a Margarita, called the One Too Many Margaritas and made with sake, mango, salted jalapeno, lemon and peppercorns.
AM: Lamia’s is open for dinner, but you are also open for brunch – can you tell us 3 brunch options we should consider on our next visit?
LF: Definitely our Mac n’ Cheese Lobster Pancake! I also recommend our Paella on Sundays, and the Croque Lamia. We also have an incredible Early Catch Menu from 4-7 every weekday and 5-7 on weekends.”
AM: With the Spring coming up, are there new dishes/cocktails that will be coming on the menu that we should look out for?
LF: We will be introducing a lot of refreshing cocktails, like Spritz with fresh fruit garnishes, and introducing more fresh vegetables into the menu.
AM: We saw that you have a vibrant brunch offering, tell us about what guests can enjoy as well as what the vibe is like?
LF: We have a diverse brunch menu predominantly focused on Mediterranean flavors.
AM: What can we expect as we transition from Spring into Summer at Lamia’s Market?
LF: We’ll be transitioning away from winter specials and introducing lighter dishes, more shareable platters and definitely summer flavors!

If you have yet to check out this week’s episode, stop reading this and catch it on your DVR or On Demand as below we have spoilers! If you have watched it or just enjoy reading recaps, then continue on!
We start with tonight’s episode with Madison pulling aside Peter. She tells him that she won’t feel comfortable if he uses the Fantasy Suites with the other girls - at this point, he doesn’t know that she is a virgin. Personally, to put the whole situation into context, she should have also shared this portion of the story. In an interesting switch it seems like all 3 girls will be staying together (usually, at this point everyone has their own places). Interestingly enough, everyone will know who ends up using it - clearly the producers are all about the twists this season to add to the tension.
The first date takes place with Hannah Ann and we know that he is falling in love with her. Of course, their date goes well. We expected to see the crazy train again between Victoria and Peter - although there were possibilities, they ended up having a regular date. Both of these dates resulted in the use of the Fantasy Suite. Madison told Hannah Ann that she felt that Peter should abstain from having sex with anyone. So of course, we can’t wait until Victoria is looped into this ultimatum.
Of course, Victoria and Hannah Ann talk about how Madison told Peter her thoughts without expressing that she is a virgin. Madison and Peter sit down to dinner to talk about open issues that have been hanging over them. Madison shares that she is a virgin and couldn’t imagine being with someone that had intimate relationships with others and then being asked to marry him. This leads both parties feeling uncomfortable. With 3 ladies left, it’s interesting to see who he will send home.
As always, every episode of ABC’s The Bachelor is tweeted by (@AthleisureMag + with our Co-Founder/Creative + Style Director, Kimmie Smith @ShesKimmie) to give their commentary on what’s taking place!
We also suggest a podcast that we’re obsessed with, Wondery’s Bachelor Happy Hour which is hosted by Rachel Lindsay (contestant on The Bachelor Season 21; The Bachelorette Season 13) and co-hosted by Becca Kufrin (contestant on The Bachelor Season 22; The Bachelorette Season 14) who continues to provide more scoop on what’s going on and what they anticipate happening in the next episode!
Last week, Peter emerged from Hometowns with Hannah Ann, Madison and Victoria F. We’re hoping that Madison ends up being asked to marry him.
We’ll have to see what happens with Madison next week!

FOR THE ULTIMATE MEAL
We enjoyed a fantastic A5 Wagyu experience here in NYC at HYUN. Whether you're enjoying their fantastic meat selection, cocktails or just the overall ambiance, we suggest making your way to this culinary destination.
ATHLEISURE MAG: Can you tell us about HYUN and what guests can expect when they come in to dine?
HYUN: Hyun specializes in Japanese A5 Wagyu, offering high quality ingredients such as S-grade sea urchin and seasonal truffle mushroom. Our menu is well balanced and focuses on specific pairings with the A5 Wagyu, so our guests can get the best flavors of the beef.
AM: Can you tell us the background of Chef Jae Kim?
H: The name of our chef is Jae Kim. He is from South Korea and has three businesses in Korea including K-BBQ restaurant. Chef Kim moved to New York City from Korea three years ago to finish his PhD, but when he became homesick, he decided to bring a piece of home to New Yorkers, crafting the idea for HYUN to showcase the traditional time-honored Korean flavors of his homeland.
AM: Can you tell our readers what Wagyu is, what A5 means and the kinds that you offer?
H: Wagyu is Japanese cattle. Japan has a strict rule to grade A5 Wagyu. Wagyu can be graded by A (highest) to C and 5 (highest) to 1. “A to C” is the yield grade (A is above standard, B is standard, and C is below standard). How to grade “5 to 1” depends on marbling scale, color and the brightness and texture of the meat. So A5 is the highest grade given only to the finest Japanese cattle.
AM: The tasting menu that we had was amazing and a great way to enjoy the progression of tastes, seasoning, Wagyu and vegetables – can you share with us 3 signature dishes that you would suggest that we enjoy on our next visit.
H: We have three signature dishes which are A5 Chef’s Cuts, Sot-bap and Chadol-jjim. We have whole A5 cattle shipped from Japan, butchered and trimmed in house. So, we can have these special cuts that you cannot see in the regular market and different BBQ restaurants. We pick the best part of the cattle and serve it as Chef’s Cut. For example, we can divide Ribeye cap, Ribeye roll and Ribeye side strap in Rib loin. Even though we call it ribeye, every cut has a different texture and flavor. We want our guests to experi ence another level of the BBQ experience with Chef’s Cut. Our second dish is Sot-bap, which is clay pot cooked rice with seasonal truffle mushroom and S-grade sea urchin from Japan Hokkaido. It is one of our best-selling dishes. We always use the best selection of sea urchin and truffle mushroom. Sot-bap has well-balanced flavors and great umami taste. Our third one is Chadol-jjim, which is our signature appetizer that comes with a wooden box. It is all steamed A5 beef brisket with perilla leaf and enoki mushrooms with a side of shitake mushroom and king oyster mushroom. We have three different dipping sauces (1. Yuzu ponzu: soy sauce, dashi, dried fish skin, lemon and orange. 2. Honey Soybean: honey, soybean paste. 3. Chili grape: White grape, serrano pepper, and apple vinegar.)
AM: The salts, soy, wasabi and various sauces that you offered really allowed you to taste the dishes in a different way. We’re major fans of the wine salt – what are 3 seasonings that you suggest that those dining should try?
H: We are trying to serve sauces or salts that pair best with each dish, especially the A5 wagyu. As you know, Japanese A5 wagyu is expensive. We want our guests to experience the best flavor of the A5 wagyu with our house made salts. I will suggest a sauce or salt for A5 wagyu such as wild wasabi and house made wine salt.
For lean beef, I would suggest black truffle salt. For any beefy flavor cuts, I will recommend our house made chaya sauce which has cabbage, chive, and soy sauce.
AM: The cocktail menu had a number of sweet and savory options, what are 3 beverages that you suggest that we should try.
H: We have three cocktails that are best sellers. The first one is called “From Jeju.” We use orange from Jeju island in Korea, and it has a refreshing and fruity flavor. The second is called “Mountain Water.” We use Hakkaisan ginjo sake and its flavor is citrusy and pairs well with our food. The third one is called “Cloud Remedy.” It is a smoky and earthy cocktail and has a little bit of citrus flavor. I personally think that it pairs very well with A5 wagyu beef.
AM: We were told that you have plans to include an Omakase within your offerings. When will that take place and what can we expect to see offered?
H: We are launching an A5 Wagyu Omakase soon. Like I mentioned, we get the whole A5 cattle from Japan so we can have main cuts and also secondary cuts. We are going to offer one appetizer soup, wagyu tartare, 11 different cuts of Japanese A5 wagyu, a savory accompaniment (rice bowl and soup) and a homemade dessert. We are also trying to give a new upscale Asian cultural experience to our guests with the Omakase service.
AM: With Valentine’s Day taking place next month, are there any specials you will be offering that our readers should know about?
H: We are going to have a Valentine’s Day special tasting menu with Rose pairing.
We also have a few private dining rooms, which are cozy and romantic. It should be a truly special Valentine’s Day experience at HYUN this year!
