WHAT MODERN CONSUMERS EXPECT FROM SHAPEWEAR: COMFORT-LED DESIGN AND EVERYDAY WEARABILITY

This summer, Shapellx partnered with Shopify to host Power From Within, an immersive offline experience in New York featuring a workplace-inspired installation and a live panel discussion exploring female entrepreneurship, career growth, psychological resilience, and confidence-building.

Inside the event space, Shapellx presented its new arrivals and best sellers in a dedicated showcase, while the panel conversation focused on women’s professional journeys and the broader idea of confidence-building through experience, community, and personal development. Together, the event reflected a shared perspective: confidence is not only shaped by what women wear. It is also shaped by the invisible foundation that helps them stand taller, move with ease, and express strength from the inside out.

That perspective is deeply embedded in Shapellx’s product philosophy. Since its founding in 2019, the brand has operated around a clear observation: effective shapewear should not require women to sacrifice comfort. Instead of treating shaping performance and wearability as separate priorities, Shapellx has built its design language around integrating both. This is reflected in signature product functions developed across its collections, including Shapellx’s tummy control design approach, back-smoothing construction, breathable fabrics, and supportive structures that balance shaping with all-day comfort.

This approach reflects a broader shift in the shapewear category. For years, shapewear was primarily associated with maximum compression and occasion-based dressing. Today, more consumers are integrating shaping pieces into everyday wardrobes. Shapellx’s tummy-control bodysuits and back-smoothing bras are increasingly worn across work, travel, and lifestyle contexts, reflecting how these functional features have moved from occasional solutions to everyday essentials. Rather than prioritizing stronger compression, consumers are increasingly focused on flexibility, breathability, and long-term comfort.

As expectations evolve, so does the way brands develop products. At Shapellx, product decisions are shaped by continuous customer feedback rather than seasonal trend cycles. The brand regularly gathers insights on fit, movement, fabric feel, and all-day wearability, using real-world input to refine future collections. This ensures that innovation is guided by how garments perform in everyday life, not just how they appear in trend forecasts.

In just six years, Shapellx has built a community of over 8 million users. The brand has quickly established itself through functional innovation, fashion-forward design, and recognizable colorways that resonate with a growing audience. Rather than treating shapewear as a tool for transformation, it continues to position its products as part of everyday dressing—supportive, adaptable, and designed to move with the wearer.

As Shapellx’s VP Shane Shi noted, “We’re not here to redefine women’s bodies, but to support how they move through everyday life.” That philosophy continues to guide the brand’s design approach, where features such as tummy control, back smoothing, breathable support, and versatile wearability are not framed as transformation tools, but as part of everyday functionality.
